    [ALL] gamefly or blockbuster by mail

    these are the offers from both websites

    Gamefly - 1 Game Out at a time $5.95 first month($15.95/month after)

    Blockbuster - 1 disc at a time - Free 2-week trial
    * Unlimited movies, TV and games
    * Many new releases available
    28 days before Netflix and Redbox
    * No due dates or late fees
    * 5 in-store exchanges

    $11.99 per month

    blockbuster clearly offers the best value. Their 3 disc offer is just $20 per month. i am only interested in 1 at a time. But they allow movies and games. Plus 5 in store trades per month.

    Gamefly seems to be reliable and quick....i am wondering if anyone has tried blockbusters service and if its worth it....or is it shitty and slow as fuck?

    I would go with GF only because BB won't be around too much longer. They filed for Chp. 11 last year, while I don't think it will be this year when they file for Chp. 7....I would stay away. My wife canceled her moms subscription when word came out. Also have they changed their policy because not too long ago (late last year)? If you returned a movie (received by mail) at a store and tried to get a game, you only got about 1/2 off the game (100% off another movie).

    edit: With GF it depends where you live to the nearest Dist. Center. I live nearby one, so I got my games pretty fast. I have heard others here complain of how long it took them to get games.

            I used both in the past (year or two ago) and there was no real difference between them...although I never rented games from BB.

                I hardly ever got the games that I wanted from GF. I had certain games that were at the top of my queue for a long time, and would end up getting the stuff at the bottom.

                It was quick and easy, though. That's a bonus for them.

                  I never got any new games i wanted, just like riley. But the shipping was very fast, i live in Atlanta, and the nearest warehouse is in Tampa,FL. It was a 2 day wait.

                  I heard BB i going to go out of business soon, so i will keep my distance.

                    I didn't have the best luck either. Plus I am a collector so I constantly wanted to just buy games anyway. I would just rent games that I thought might be fun but knew I would never buy. The problem was that I would always be balls deep in a game that I did buy and the GF games would just sit on my coffee table. It was pointless having a GF subscription for me.

                    And did I read that right Maynard, one game out at a time through GF is $16/month now?!?

                        i currently use gamefly. my only complaint/drawback, i dont understand their availability system. it will show a game stock as low/med/high/available now. if you have it in stock then ship it. if its out then say no in stock. cause you either have it or you dont. unless they hold a few back for lost or damaged discs.

                              This is my impression with Gamefly. I'd never get the stuff at the top of my list so I just removed all of the games I "kinda wanted to try" from the bottom. All that meant was that when I'd send a game back, I had to wait longer for the game to come back in stock.

                              Basically, they don't have the inventory for new games so if there's a bunch of older games that you haven't got around to playing, GF is better than buying. If you want new games, GF isn't that reliable so you'll have to look elsewhere. Not saying you won't ever get a new game, it's just difficult.
