Pfft. After complaining about Gamefly's prices for a long time now, I finally decided to give them a fair try. I've been signed up for almost a couple of weeks and haven't received shit. I have 5 games in my que right now - FEAR 3, Red Dead Redemption, Dead Space 2, Gears of War 2, and FEAR 2. Before FEAR 3 came out I had Assassin's Creed in there. Not a single one of those games has shipped.
Despite Red Dead, Assassin's Creed, and Dead Space 2's availability being rated as high the entire time.
So, from my experience the service has been awful. What makes it worse is that I have no idea, no way of knowing when or if any of the games I want will ship anytime soon. Being that a high availability is obviously no clear indicator that the game will actually ship. I'm left in the dark. It would be nice to know an expected delivery date, or at least where I stand priority wise. Are there thousands of people ahead of me, or what... A simple available or not available would be far better.
Reason being, I could end up having a game out that I don't really want, while I'm awaiting a game that's first on my que to become available. But, how do I know when to return it for the game I want when the availability system isn't accurate enough to go off of..
So far I just don't see the value at all. Especially if I don't get a game before July. I could add shit games to my que to increase my chances, but that kinda defeats the purpose. I think you're better off just purchasing games and putting them on ebay when you're done. It's cheaper that route, but being there were finally a handful of games I wanted to try, I figured I'd give this a go.
Actually, this is my 2nd attempt at trying Gamefly. The first time I only had one game in my que. It was the only game I was interested at the time. After it was clear that wasn't shipping either, I canceled, thankfully they were kind enough to issue me a refund. Unfortunately my 2nd attempt with them hasn't been any better.
I think I may give Blockbuster a try and compare the two. Seems like I'll just be going back to purchasing and selling off of ebay though.
