Anyways I've began the hunt for a new computer (or should I just say parts right now). Usually I would just go out and buy a whole new comp but with money going to other things right now i'm going to do slowly overtime.

The fall literally can't get here fast enough in terms of gaming.

Do I think Battlefield is a much better game and series than CoD? Yup. But that's because I've played every game in both series' so I think I have a pretty educated opinion. But that isn't even my big problem. My problem is with idiots who won't even bother playing another shooter unless it has CoD in the title.

I think I want this game. Last game I got was Modern Warfare 2 and sucked balls at it. Last shooter I actually played was Halo Reach online a few months ago. Been craving a shooter. This fall this could be the one.

It ultimately has nothing to do with gaming, but complete ignorance. Yea, you're right about JRPG's. I fucking hate them. They are probably the only genre of game that i wouldn't touch with a ten foot pole. But at least I gave them a shot, unlike a Dude Bro. I thought Final Fantasy 7 was the worst, and most boring game I have ever played in my entire gaming life. I bought into the hype and boy was that a mistake. I've played others since then and they were all equally terrible. Turn based battles and reading mountains of text dialogue full of elipses are fucking garbage. There's a reason why Japanese games as whole are a dying breed. That's my opinion. But again, it's based on actual experience.

The stereotypical "Dude Bro" has absolutely no experience with Battlefield or any other shooter. They play CoD just because it's CoD and think it's the greatest thing since sliced bread. It's like a fucking Apple fanboy who just shovels out paycheck after paycheck on Apple products just because they're Apple. I wish I had that cartoon video that Garrett posted a while back when the HTC Evo came out. The same thing could be applied to Dude Bro's. Just replace all the "But it's an iPhone" dialogue with "But it's CoD", and replace the actual reasoning with talk about Battlefield, or really any other shooter. It's ludicrous.

cod = pick up and play which is pretty good for a lot of people who just want to play a game without having to worry about anything other than shooting the other person

battlefield = more complex shooter that requires the user to be aware of objective and teammates and not just shoot from the hip the whole game

two different games

People who say cod isnt a good game are just the ignorant pricks who like to think there better than others b/c they play/use something that is not the norm. COD is a simple and easy game to spend a couple of hours on with friends because its so simple 3 yr olds can pick up on the controls and objective (my little cousin took the controller and was running and gunning, although he did not get any kills he was playing the game.)

Very good comparison of the two. I also want to add that COD can be like Battlefield online when you play with a team that are friends of yours and know what they are doing. Its extremely fun to play objective-based games with people who know your strategy and actually try and hit the objectives, and not just play Team Deathmatch in Capture the Flag.

Definitely agree with this. CoD isn't a terrible game by any stretch. It just isn't the game that Battlefield is. I still buy the CoD games because the campaigns are worth a playthrough and when I just feel like shooting people online without really even having to think, ie when I'm hammered, CoD is a fine game to waste some time.

My beef with the cod series started with MW2 when they pissed me off with the no dedicated servers thing. I played cod4 a ton but for the most part I rarely touched the vanilla gameplay of it. MW2 took that ability away and in turn thankfully i never did buy it because when I did play the MP I hated it. If you didn't have a ton of shit flying up on your screen congratulating you for walking one step you had to deal with helocopters, missles and other bs stuff.

CoD plays a lot like counterstrike which is probably my second most played game so I can't say I hate the gameplay or how it plays its just all the extra crap that gets in the way like perks and awards for getting killstreaks and such. I guess call me old fashioned but I like to play a game where you win by playing better then the other person based on your ability to play and not what perks you have that can give you a better advantage. CoD4 walked this line quite well but the later games really took away that feeling.

The battlefield series I have been playing since BF1942 came out. Whats always been the best thing about the game is just how many people you can play with and how playing with a group of 10 to 15 people that you know is a blast. The varied game play is great where you can do anything from camp and snipe on a hill to driving a tank and capping bases. I usually go engineer/anti tank myself and loved rolling with helo's in 2142. I also like how it rewards you for things but at the same time doesn't give you any extra advantage outside of showing you've just played it more. Sure there are upgrades to each kit (BF2142 was the first to implement a lot of these) but for the most part they arn't overwhelming like in the cod series and you still have to know what you're doing to use them.

The wildcard in this (for me anyways) is the new Counterstrike coming out next year. I'm honestly going to laugh when people (especially you consolers) who get it from the market and are going to say "wth is this shit so popular". I can already see people complaining about it being basic and simple, the graphics probably won't be overwhelmingly good and the gameplay really can't be any different then past games. The guns will be generic and you won't get much help in terms of add ons or perks. The game is simply awesome because of this...
