I'm with you FirstTimer. Trying to avoid dropping money on a good headset. Because if I get one I want a nice one that will work for both systems (ps3/360)

It's not a requirement but you'll be missing out on a large percentage of what is the Battlefield Experience.

Mostly, you can call out enemies to your squadmates and now, your entire team this year (HUGE improvement) when you aren't mashing the Select/Home button all game.

TL;DR - Get a headset.

A mic is highly recommended for online shooters period. I was playing with Pete, Atlas, and a few other people without a mic one night and it was terrible. You definitely need to communicate. I could hear them through the TV saying someone was behind or near me, but couldn't tell them they're about to get pwned if they went in a certain room, lol. Also with BF, the squads are set to 4 so if you're playing with a decent size group.. XBL parties are the way to go.

Honestly i wish this game was shipping with more than 9 maps.

EDIT: But its not so bad considering the Back to Karkand maps as well.

Remember that the maps are huge though. Like the map in the beta could be 3 maps itself.

I'm with you. I don't think I'll play the single player either, just multiplayer. So hoping to get $60 worth out of that.

I decided to go ahead and pickup a kickass headset that works for both systems. Picked up the Turtle Beach PX5 and I highly reccomend it. Best Buy wanted $249.99 for it but I got them to price match Wal-Mart for $219.96. I think you can find it on amazon for around $150 last time I checked.
