Customized matches is the biggest draw IMO. You can make a ranked Conquest server with higher ticket counts or an ultra-hardcore server where people take much more damage. As Jay mentioned, you can use a server to learn how to fly without having to worry about ruining a game or upsetting people.

Then, there's the competitive scene where having your own private server to host matches is much easier than trying to find and fill an empty public server before randoms enter.

There's also people who use their servers to boost and get unlocks. I've seen a couple of conquest servers that consist of vehicles going around in a circle capping flags to open unlocks and admins who actively ban anyone who kills other players.

Thanks for clarifying. I figured the fact that I thanked them both would've sufficed. Jerk face.

But, back on topic, anyone feel like playing this today? Either platform. I haven't played in quite some time and I'm hankering from some Battlefields.

Good ol Stat Padding. Been a staple of the battlefield franchise since BF2.

You guys literally have no idea how cheap that rent a server option is either. I remember back in the day spending well over 120 a month to have my 32 slot bf2/2142 server. Owning your own server though is 100X better then retarded match making.

          Leafs offseason training!

It's great, except they're always sold out on 360.

I hope you guys start to see the light about dedicated servers and why back when MW2 was released I was beyond pissed at the matchmaking system to the point that I never bought the game.

BestBuy.com has this for both PS3 and 360 for $19.99.

What part of "it's great" did you not understand? The "except they're always sold out" portion was simply qualifying that I can never rent my own server even though I try fairly often.

Silly question, ever since the patch all the matches I get into have ridiculous kill limits or super high tickets for conquest or some other silly rules. How do I get into a good old fashioned BF3 match with 100 kill limit or the lower conquest ticket limits and no silly rules?

Go into the server browser and look for one that isn't customized

How do you know if it customized or not? Look for DICE in the name?

That would probably work, but to be sure you can check the rules of the server before you join. Not sure which button off the top of my head, but one of them does it from the server browser.
