Two Worlds 3 Confirmed Amidst TopWare PR SNAFU – Coming in 2012

Today has been an interesting day for TopWare interactive. Amidst claims that they’ve criticized and blacklisted media outlets about Two Worlds II reviews, it seems they’ve also confirmed Two Worlds 3. Not only that, but they say the game is coming in 2012!

The story was first reported on Beefjack.com – which had received reports that TopWare had come down on certain media outlets for “misrepresenting” Two Worlds II and giving the game poor reviews. When they reached out to TopWare – part of the response they got was as follows:

    You Don't Say . . .

So, it seems there is a next installment of Two Worlds already in the works!! But it didn’t end there. Destructoid’s Jim Sterling soon picked up the story and TopWare Managing Director James Seaman quickly took to the comments section to defend his company. That’s right – the managing director of TopWare defended his company via the comments section of a gaming blog . . .

Anyhow – here is some of what was said:

So not only is this James Seaman running around telling gaming blogs what’s what- but he’s also inadvertently letting the world know that the next installment of Two Worlds is coming in 2012!!

We loved Two Worlds II, so here’s to hoping Two Worlds III is even better . . . and TopWare gets their PR under control.

Stay tuned to RipTen as this drama continues. I assure you – this story is not even close to over.

i think its awesome that a dev would question a reviewing system. 5 is not an average and this game is being lowballed all over the place. anything less than a 7.5 is a joke for this game. RPG players would not, in good conscious, be able to score this lower than 7.5 even if they hated it. There are so many great things that out weigh the bad that its just not possible for an rpg gamer to not think its a solid game.

Now if review sites have people who dont play rpg's reviewing the game, then thats really retarded and could justify a low score since its not for the casual rpg player....i would never suggest this game for a guy like twigg.

as for TW3. this game can be like the Arkham City of RPG's. The foundation has been layed for a superb follow up. All they need to do is take what they already have and tweak things. Add a new story and streamline some of the less than good interface actions and you will have a potential game of the year

TW2 is just as good as DA Origins. DA has the edge in story, plot lines, quests and characters while TW2 has the edge in role playing, depth, world and exploration.

The fact is that its coming out too soon. The same shit happened with L4D and L4D2, instead of creating DLC they're creating another game so we have to shell out 60 dollars again.

I played this game, it was very average. 7.5, nothing higher or lower.

I could not agree with the TW people more, and I haven't even played either game. The review system is so arbitrary and stupid it's borderline criminal. I hate G4, but I have to say, if a game NEEDS to have a number rating, a number out of 5 is better than some shit out of 10. WITH DECIMALS NO LESS. What in the holy hell is the difference between a 9.0 game and a 9.3 game?

imo its a 9 but thats because it offers elements that i love in an rpg. other people wont love those aspects and feel its just an ok game giving it a 7 or so...which is totally fair cause some guys like really well told stories and what not. And while this game is well written, its story is delivered rather shitty

but to give it a 5, or in some cases a 6 and write a review to try and justify that 6. but it only shows it wasnt really played....well, thats just lame

This is exactly what TopWare is pissed about. Public perception is that a 7 is average, while the gaming publications seem to think a 5 is.

Clearly, gaming editors and writers never went to school, where a 7/10 is barely passing. Anything below a 6/10 arguably doesn't matter because it's failing all the same.

As for TWIII, I'm glad they're pushing to make a sequel and improve on their work amidst all of the unjust negative press they've received.

I think that the biggest problem isn't even the writing to justify the 6, it's that people see a 6 and think "shitty game" not "average game". It's such a weird scale and the problem is wholly perpetrated by the critics. In a perfect world, they'd just do it with a write up, but our retarded generation doesn't want to read and is just concerned with that GD number.

                9-9.75-Must check out
8-8.75-Check out if no major flaws
7-7.75-Check out if its a genre you like
less than 7- Don't even look at, must be broken

Which is arbitrary and why, if you're going to do numbers, you should just do out of 5.

And while we're here, I honestly would like a score out of 100. They do it with tests, do it here. I'd like it more personally.

That's hardly much different than a score out of 10, and it's no different than ratings out of 10 with decimals.

Why? What purpose does that serve? Test scoring out of 100 is convoluted enough, when we start scoring shit intended for enjoyment out of that, what purpose does it serve? What is an 80 out of a 100 going to tell you that a 4 out of 5 couldn't? It's goofy. No offense, but you kind of sound like an idiot.

                            Why do test scores come out of 100? Why don't they just do tests out of 1-5? 5-A, 4- B, 3- C, 4- D, 5- F?

That's because there's tons of small factors that get included. They essentially already do it like this, added .25's of points.

Do you look at ratings at all? You know, since it's intended for enjoyment purposes and all. I don't really see how a score of out of 100 would affect you, seeing how you would find no difference between a 88 and a 93.

i like the 1-10 scoring system the best. i also like the point scoring too (8.5 ect..)

i dont really like the 100 point system even though 85 is the same as 8.5.

the 1-5 scale is my least favorite of all because if 1 is the worst and 5 is the best then 3 is right in the middle. the middle would be 50% making a 3 50% and 4 75%. That big of a range is to much when scoring anything

based on the 5 point system a 4 could mean an 80...but it could also mean a 99. There is a huge difference between a 80 and 99
