EA's all about money, so I think this risk could give good reason for the game to be shittier than usual.

I just found out yesterday when perusing OS forums that Adembroski is now an assistant designer for Madden 12.
I really don't cruise the Madden forums much anymore, given that it's, by far, the worst pro sports video game of the bunch.
I wish Adem well, but trying to fix the current incarnation of Madden is like painting over a rickety old house every year. Yeah, the paint's new, but the house still sucks.

No shit the sales will drop. I thought about that as soon as the lockout was announced.

I highly doubt Tiburon will "slack off" on the game this year just because of the lockout.

I'm not saying the dev's won't try. I'm saying that EA won't be as willing to pump funds into this year's development if only 3 Million people end up buying the product in August.

Doesn't seem to be a very good ROI, when they could instead give another 10 --> 11 weak ass upgrade and then actually put some fuckin funds into making 13 special when the league is no longer focused on the CBA.

last year was the first year I didn't buy it and I didn't miss it. NCAA Online Dynasty is a far better gaming experience and I don't plan on buying Madden ever again until it totally changed.

The game has gone from a hardcore sports game to a Corporate commercial.

I'm not exactly sure how funding works, but I thought that the publishers gave the developers a set budget and then they work with that.

I highly doubt the developers do any spending themselves.

Heck, I'm sure the developers don't get much say in half of what goes into the game, ala OTP in Madden 11. That was a developer decision if i recall Ian correctly.

NCAA will be my only purchase for football this year. Unless, there is some miracle that occurs. Haven't played NCAA in about 3 or 4 years now, should be refreshing.

So sucking cock does pay off. That is why Madden sucks, they hire people that have zero background in programming or designing games.
