    [PS3] Splinter Cell Trilogy

This game deserves it's own thread dammit!

    Update:

Tom Clancy’s Splinter Cell Trilogy Coming to PS3 With 3D

For the last few months, we’ve been working on bringing the first three Splinter Cell games – Splinter Cell, Splinter Cell: Pandora Tomorrow and Splinter Cell: Chaos Theory – to the PS3. Splinter Cell and Sam Fisher don’t need an introduction; these three games are highly acclaimed games and it has been a great pleasure for us to work on these titles.

    The PS3 Game

When we started this project, one of our main goals was to provide the players with the best possible content. Hence we decided to port the game from the PC version which had more content and detail compared to the PS2 version.

Tom Clancy’s Splinter Cell Trilogy on PS3 will include:
    • Graphics in HD resolution
    • 3D Stereoscopic support for 3D TVs
    • Some exciting and challenging Trophies

Let’s take a quick trip down memory lane and talk briefly about the gameplay and original titles.

    Core Gameplay

Splinter Cell games are third-person, stealth-based action games under the Tom Clancy license. You play as Sam Fisher, a highly trained secret agent who works for the Third Echelon, a new NSA initiative. Stealth is the main theme of the gameplay: You will have to walk in shadows and remain invisible, leaving no trace of your existence. Throughout the game, you will receive information and instructions from your handlers. As Sam, you have access to a number of skills and gadgets that you will have to use wisely in order to progress. You will have to plan your moves and manage your resources effectively.

We believe all these along with the original gameplay mechanics will make the Splinter Cell HD a nice treat for PS3 owners. These games will be available in a Trilogy Pack on Blu-Ray, and individually on PSN.

Hope to see you soon — with your night-vision goggles on!

I am so looking forward to this. I am a HUGE Splinter Cell fan.

Have they mentioned a price? I'm guessing it will be the standard $40? I sure hope it has online support, at least for the awesome co-op mode from Chaos Theory.

I remember there being several DLC maps for co-op mode in CT. I hope that they are all included.

sweet, I still have the original discs sitting in my stash....the only 2nd gen games I have left. Can't play them though as I had to get a new PS3 six months ago with no backwards compatibility Would rather have these HD one's anyway.

      Any release date for these?

You need to get a PS3 and enjoy the best of both worlds. All these great HD compilations plus you know you want to play as Kratos on MK.

I did notice this on the Gamestop listing...
Online components. Supports online leaderboard and achievements / trophies system to help foster an online community aspect for the original games.

That has disappointment written all over it. It sounds like the only online that it will support is leaderboards. Boo. Liek i said, I don't really care about the vs modes introduced in Pandora but at least give us online co-op from CT. That mode was the shit.

Co-op was the shit, I'm with you there.

And to answer your earlier question, it should be $40 per usual HD release.

Also, since we're on the topic of co-op, it's time to bring back Special Agent Bob and Secret Agent Steve.

              Enjoy!

Kotaku confirmed no MP, co-op or competitive. Lame.

                        I knew it. Garbage.

Well, hopefully I can get my wife to play through the co-op missions in CT with me again.

Kills it for me. I would have gotten it if it had MP included. I see no reason why it isn't included. Just baffling to me.

They are great games but at 40$ I'm not going to jump on it for SP only. I'll wait for the inevitable price drop, probably.

I know why they didn't include vs. Chances are the modes aren't as good as we remember them to be and I can't imagine they want to float server support for games that are so old that people probably won't even play online.

The only thing I was holding out hope for was co-op. Oh well.

Did anyone ever play part 2? The whole first person vs 3rd person spy setup always seemed really intriguing.
I'm guessing none of the others had that?
Best reason to have a license.
