[ALL] Redbox To Start Carrying Video Games

How hard is it to use a prepaid CC at these things? Im gonna be on some sheisty shit if you can. :rockwoot:

Redbox Carrying Video Games Nationwide In June

What's your convenience store of choice? Where I used to live 7-11 was the nearest store carrying poptarts and open at midnight. Now the nearest merchant of convenience is a Circle K. Neither of them had Redbox standing outside though.

Instead, I'll have to go to the grocery store to rent a game in June. Redbox announced today that they'll begin carrying video games for rental at 21,000 locations nationwide. New video games will run you $2 a day, compared to $1 for DVDs and $1.50 for Blu-ray rentals.

It's true that video games had been available at some Redbox locations as a test for this nationwide push:

Redbox will increase consumers' access to video game rentals by leveraging our incredible technology and business model to keep rental prices low for consumers. With more than 21,000 redbox locations slated to feature video game rentals alongside movies this June, redbox will be the one-stop shop for entertainment.

While I can agree that it'll be a lot easier to rent a game or movie when it's right in the front of the grocery store, I think the internet will continue to hold the title of "One-stop shop for entertainment." Do you have a Redbox near you? If you do, are you sticking with GameFly?

They have been doing this at certain redboxes for a while. I rarely use redbox, but I have seen games in them.

Not sure if I'll ever use this service. The only thing this could be useful for is trying out a game, but I think I'll be better off just consulting the VSN folks for reviews.

Yea buddies down in Orlando said they've had it for bout 4-5 months now, glad to see it's nationwide come June. I may do it for a few games only for a day or 2 to try out. Cause $2 a day can pile up quick if you don't pay attention.

I could see how this will add up. As always, I'll end up consulting various online reviews, as well as that of my friends to determine what I'll get. I'm also really enjoying reading some of the things some of you have to say here, so I have another resource to look at.

not sure. i use my a debit card thats only for misc stuff, gamefly, redbox....if i dont have any money in that acct i dont use the card. i am sure if they accept a prepaid card, you will need to have the full amount of the game and they may have to place a hold on the card. all this is a guess of course.

My library usually has new games a month after they come out for a dollar for 2 weeks.

But this will be good for games you want to play for a day. If its out, I'll probably get Madden for a day or two this year.

The card has to have a registered name attached to it.
