[360] New Xbox @ E3? EA Already developing for it?

Citing an unnamed source, UK-based video game industry magazine Develop is reporting that Microsoft has provided Electronic Arts with development hardware that will become the next Xbox as early as 2012.

According to the report, the hardware is housed in a PC shell, a common practice for early console development kits. Develop's source, described as a "senior, trusted, well-placed" person who works at neither EA nor Microsoft, told the magazine an E3 2011 reveal is likely.

Pretty interesting rumour.

Historically, whatever the current generation of consoles is, the first to market is usually the most commercially successful. You could call the Wii an anomaly but some people might argue that the Wii is technologically closer to the previous generation of consoles.

I'm just crossing my fingers that EA doesn't fuck up Madden again since that will likely be their flagship title on the new system.

Just bought my 360 in November, figured I could use it till atleast 2015, if not later, with the ps3 hack, i feel Sony is gonna be having the ps4 already in development, but they are gonna take their time with it.

I hope this is false. I think the PS3 and 360 are both really hitting their strides. Whereas I think Nintendo does need a new console I think MS and Sony should hold off until 2013 at the earliest.

I have a hard time seeing what new they could possibly bring to the table by doing this. I guess that goes for both Sony and Microsoft. What is the next step for consoles? Graphically I can't imagine its going to get a whole lot better. For the 360, 3D? What is this new console going to bring that is going to make me want to get it ASAP? 3D certainly isn't going to do it.

At the moment, I can fathom what it would be. The only thing I can come up with is if the console becomes a complete entertainment tool. As in, you could replace your cable/satellite TV service and use your console for television.

I hope we have all new consoles by 2015....I will be totally burnt out on these by then. The 360 launched on Nov 2005? Thing is almost 6 years old already. Fuck I change phones, computers, cars, friends, relationships faster than this!

maybe they are trying to get it out at the same time, or at least close to, the next nintendo console so they dont get smoked again in sales.
