maybe with everyone bitching about defense EA will put in some feature to help out with the D and make Rey Maualuga or someone likewise the cover athlete.

A defensive player would be nice, since like userpikk said the defense could use some help. Maualuga would be a good choice. Even though I guess I wouldn't be surprised if they went for the different person on each console thing again.

Also, it was DeSean Jackson on the PS2 cover last year, Pat White was still in school.
