What the fuck are you talkin about?

The originals is where you learned how to freakin shoot instead of pray and spray like a spazoid about to blow his fuckin load. Planning a take down had its own intricacies, you had checkpoints that you could pre program, tactical measures at, a good take down included timing at these checkpoints as well. You had first person stealth missions, where it was like MGS, you get caught you were screwed. No half assin.

The MP, was revolutionary at the time with match making, lobbies, chat and if you were real hardcore, you were in a clan with a wired headset and Roger Wilco running in the background!

More to the MP than that though, you had one shot one kill online, no matter what, you better be read on that trigger and have steady aim otherwise you were as good as fucked.

The Vegas games brought almost all of that back but they didn't have the planning aspect. It was all straight through until you reached a breach point.

      I can't wait for this.

I want to say the first I played was RB6 3. I remember going through an office building in, I want to say Toronto, and having to basically clear every room. That was a great game. Had a lot of fun playing Vegas as well.

I was absolutely fucking nuts about the two Rainbow Six 3 games on the xbox console.

Those games were so good, so good. I believe Rainbow Six 3 was the #1 played online game until Halo 2 rolled around.

When lockdown came out and they really started changing things I started to get a little fed up. Vegas was "OK", but personally I was still searching for RB6:3/BA gameplay and I was consistently disappointed.

Like Blade said, The thing that MADE rainbow six special was the one shot one kill. The only thing that really made that so possible (on the console versions at least) was the aiming reticule used to be the Circle instead of the cross hairs. so if you had a reasonably accurate weapon and you were in reasonable range all you had to do was make sure someone's head was within the circle and it only took one bullet.

I think Ubisoft figured that the slow, tactical, Watch every step you take gameplay was something that was dying, as Halo had taken over as the main shooter I think they tried to make their game a lot more accessible, (sound like Madden? Anyone?) but in the process they forgot what made their game special in the first place.

Rainbow Six was special to me because there was no pray and spray. I shouldn't say that, there WAS spray and pray, but the guy who was crouched and aiming while standing still was the guy who was probably going to get the kill, as opposed to the guy holding his trigger and running left to right. The game used to punish you for that more than they do today, I played Vegas extensively, and I remember being able to get through a door and find cover immediately even if I was under fire. in the older games if I had even leaned my head out of that doorway I had better have thrown a flash or a smoke grenade (and hoped thermal was disabled) or I was going to be sitting in the lobby waiting for the next round.

I miss City Street Large, Carnival, Hotel (had some GREAT battles in that level), agh the list goes on and on I really miss those old Rainbow Six 3 games.

Mother fucking c4 grenades. That's me popping out around the corner giving you the headshot, BTW.

This is pretty much the one and only online shooter that had any sort of staying power for me.
