    Link: Game Informer Details:

    • Don't expect much of the old linear platforming formula. "We're now giving the player the opportunity to go into a space and choose their own path. Where we take you across the ledge of the B-52 bomber, that's a tutorial. Once you move away from the plane, everything is basically open, dynamic traversal where the player has the freedom to roam around and jump from location to location with ease..."

    • You'll be able to air steer, direction control, speed her up/down during jumps
    • The game has an XP system. You'll be able to use this for upgrading Lara's abilities. You'll also have to scavenge for materials to upgrade Lara's equipment
    • The base camps will allow you to upgrade Lara's abilities, improve your equipment and fast travel to other base camps that you've visited on the island
    • Early on you'll only have a few options to upgrade Lara, such as giving her the ability to carry additional arrows for her bow or increasing the speed that she's able to shoot the arrows. As you continue the system will open up and allow you to shape her abilities to your playstyle.
    • The context-sensitive actions are one-off sequences. For example, the scene with Lara stabbing the wolf is only going to happen once in the game. They say that if you do it right the first time it'll have an impact.
    • "There is linearity to the story - you have to go from point A to point B - but there's junctions in between where we want the player to feel like they're real explorers." These are described as non-linear hub spaces that you can come back to at different times of day

I'm watching the 1Up/IGN video of the MS conference now and holy shit, Seth wasn't joking. This game looks like Uncharted 4. Not that it's a bad thing. I just think it's funny that Uncharted borrowed heavily from the TR series but improved on basically everything. Now TR is totally aping Uncharted.

Less shooting and more jumping, puzzles, exploring, and traversing......jms will be happy.

From what I've read of The Last of Us, I think I'd just rather play that. But I've played every Tomb Raider since the beginning, so I will likely play this one too, even if it is Nathan Drake in drag with a British accent.

It looks to be the complete opposite.

Well not completely. It definitely looks like there's plenty of exploring and traversing.

I'm sure there's plenty of that. But it looks to have way more shooting than any previous TR game. It looks to be on par with Uncharted as far as that goes.

Camilla Luddington is the new Lara Croft in Tomb Raider

Square Enix has announced that Lara Croft will have a new voice actress in the upcoming Tomb Raider series reboot: Camilla Luddington, recently seen on True Blood and Californication. Luddington was born in England, but as seen on this late night talk show, she apparently uses an American accent when appearing on American media.

Worry not, though - Luddington has a lovely English accent as well (and you can hear her using it on this clip of Graham Norton's show in the very beginning). She definitely sounds younger than previous Croft voice actors, which Square Enix says will contribute "a depth of emotion and the youthful tone needed for Lara Croft" in the game.
I want her to be the mother of my 1st illegitimate child
