[ALL] EA launches Origin, takes aim at Steam

Gamers respect Valve and hate EA. This service would have to blow Steam so far out of the water just to get the majority's attention.

Steam is an awesome service....the only way this succeeds IMO is if they get exclusive content.

Sorry I didn't read the whole article.

A great way to help this service would be to allow gamers to play battlefield 3 like 1 week early if the buy it through this service....that would really help them.

        Great Idea JMS.....

I guess they had to use the Origin name for something. It was a company the bought ~15 years ago, for those of you who don't remember the Ultima series.

apparently they are going to keep the digital version of the star wars the old republic game exclusive to the origin service

            RIP

This has fail written all over it, at least for the PC market. Only way I see anyone using this is if they pull their games from steam and make them available only on Orgin.

As killgod said, people love Valve and loathe EA, no one is going to jump ship unless they absolutely have to.

I'm just happy to see that Madden will return to the PC.

EA stopped Valve from letting Steam users who pre-ordered Portal 2 from doing this the Friday before its release. I'd be surprised if they had a change of heart on this issue.

Not sure you guys read that right. I don't think Madden or NCAA are coming to PC, this year/iteration. It looks like the site will function like the EA store, and you'll be able to buy physical copies.
