    Updated Trade Value Chart

I posted something about creating a trade value chart about a week or so ago. I went ahead and spent more time with it and counted the number of players in each potential group A-F. Based off that, I created values for each potential rating in two groups. Position players and pitchers. I then assigned points based off of "age windows."

I went ahead and posted it to megaupload.com and have already shared it with FirstTimer. I thought I would share it with you guys as well. Feel free to make changes or offer constructive criticism.

I will say that I like the way it works now. When I try and get even trade value in hypothetical trades I am finding solid results. Also, I did put the info in for the Mark Ellis & Bruce Billings trade and the values were just 0.3 points apart. So give it a try and enjoy!

So Matt Kemp for two B potential pitchers?

    Doesn't seem right.

It can seem a little off. I felt the same way at first. Then I looked back at trades completed in the last few years. Some examples:

      Toronto receives:
      Kyle Drabek
      Travis D'Arnaud
      Michael Taylor

      Total Value points: 17.92

      Philadelphia receives:
      Roy Halladay

      Total Value points: 15.00

      -----------------------------

      Cleveland receives:
      Lou Marson
      Carlos Carrasco
      Jason Donald
      Jason Knapp

      Total Value points: 21.6

      Philadelphia receives:
      Cliff Lee
      Ben Francisco

      Total Value points: 19.68

      -----------------------------

Not much in terms of overall point differential. Also, you have to remember. The CPU doesn't necessarily have to agree to the deals. You may have to overpay. This is just something that can act as a guideline so you know what to start off with.

Finally worked out a deal for BJ Upton. Sent him to Oakland.

        Rays receive:
        Daric Barton
        Ryan Sweeney
        Fernando Cabrera

        Trade Value points: 11.35

        Athletics receive:
        BJ Upton

        Trade Value points: 12.00

I am happy with the deal. IN THE GAME Barton is a OBP machine. Sweeney has decent speed, a good bat and is under team control for a few more years. Cabrera is a D rated potential pitching prospect. He doesn't have a ton of great attributes. However, he does have some velocity and his K/9 number is through the roof in AA and his overall slider for K/9 is good as well. Plus, he has a very good slider. Due to that, I figure he could be a possible ROOGY if he makes it to the big club. Right now I have him in AAA Durham.

Just finished my first game since the Upton trade and after the All-Star break. We had Boston in town in front of a full house. Niemann (12-2) was going for us. They had Dice-K taking the hill on their behalf.

Niemann struggled early, and left the game in the 6th down 5-1. We were able to chip away at the Red Sox lead thanks to 2 stolen bases from Johnny Damon and 3 HITS from Daric Barton. In the 9th, we were able to tie the game and got to Papel-BLOWN.

Tied 6-6 in the 11th, Okajima was on the mound. Brignac gets a leadoff single. Jennings comes up. He takes the first pitch inside. Second pitch, Jennings goes to straight away center for a 2-run walkoff HR for the win!

Big props to Adam Russell who went 2.0 innings in relief with 5 K's.

Here's one for your trade machine:

              Using this thread as context:

              Kind of a cool happening.

I get a trade offer from the Twins for Aramis Ramirez:

18 year old SS/3B Prospect Miguel Sano for 3B Aramis Ramirez straight up.

The VERY next day I get a trade offer from the White Sox(who the Twins are trying to chase down)

              CWS get: 3B Aramis Ramirez

CHC get: OF/1B/3B Dayan Viciedo, 3B Brent Morel, RP Jhonny Nunez

Haven't decided what deal I want to do.......

What's your trade chart say? I can't use it from work.
