    Wildcard's Madden Rankings (21-32)

The 3rd and Final installment of my Madden Rankings thread includes teams 21-32.

    21) Seattle Seahawks - The Seahawks are hated on this year by many a people. I have yet to figure out why. For how accurate Matt Hasselbeck is he makes an offense better by default. Matt has Deon Branch, and Bobby Engram (both 87 overall) as targets, and a decent Rookie Tight End in John Carlson. The offensive line is highlighted by the old vet Walter Jones, but he is the only one that sticks out really. The backfield is lead by Runningback Julius Jones, and followed by Running Back Maurice Morris, as they make an alright 1,2 Punch. Don't forget about Leonard Weaver however. He is one of the best Full Backs in Madden, and he has enough speed to break some nice runs. The defense of the Seahawks is better than the offense like a lot of teams. The Defensive Line is highlighted by 95 Overall Patrick Kerney, but they really have no one else on the line. The Line Backer Crew is probably arguably the best in the game with Tatupu(97), Peterson(95), and Hill(89). Seattle also gives us a top 10 secondary in Madden with Trufant(94), and Jennings(88) at CornerBack, and Russell(86), and Grant(87) at Safety. So... why is this team this low again??? Because I as well as some of you... are stubborn.

    22) Chicago Bears - The Chicago Bears have been very active in these weekly Roster Updates Madden has been giving us. This so far has been pretty much a good thing. Kyle Orton has been rising up in Overall week after week, and although he might not have the ideal Throwing Power that you may like, On the bench is our dear friend Rex "Fuck it I'm going deep" Grossman. The Bears offensive line isn't what it used to be, but it's still a good line, and with Matt Forte(84) you can run very well behind it. Forte may not give you the breakaway 70 yard Touchdown run you want, but he will definitely eat up yards, slowly chipping away at your D, 5 yards at a time. Their Wide Outs are nothing special, but with the Speed Devin Hester has he will always be a deep threat, or the way he even breaks tackles, he is also nice to hit on the curl routes. Chicago has a damn good TE duo, and Greg Olsen(85) has some good speed, and seems like a watered down version of Shockey. The Defense of Chicago is, was, and it seems like always will be good as long as #54 Brian Urlacher(98) is wearing a C on his helmet. In my opinion the Bears have one of the best Defenses in the game, and have a superstar on every part of the field. Tommie Harris(96), and Adewale Ogunleye(89) highlight the defensive line. The LineBackers on this team include the best duo in the game with 98 Overall Brian Urlacher, and 95 Overall Lance Briggs. While the CornerBack position is stacked with 2 90+ Overalls in Charles Tillman, and Nathan Vasher.

    23) Denver Broncos - The Denver Broncos have always been a sexy team in Madden. This year, is different. Much different. Although they have some weapons on Offense with Jay Cutler(89), Brandon Marshall(94),Eddie Royal(82), and Tony Scheffler is a great Madden Tight End. They really don't have much of an Offensive Line at all, and Selvin Young is probably the worst starting Running Back in Madden. The Broncos don't really improve to much on Defense either. Yeah they still have Champ Bailey(97), and Dre Bly(89), but no more John Lynch, and mediocre safeties to replace him make this secondary much weaker than it used to be. Al Wilson, and Ian Gold are no longer with the team so D.J. Williams(95) is the only good Line Backer they have by a long shot. The defensive line isn't much better with Elvis Dumervil(91) being the only guy above mediocrity.

    24) Baltimore Ravens - The Baltimore Ravens have one of the worst Offenses in Madden this year. They have a nice Rookie QB 79 Overall Joe Flacco who has a Cannon Arm, but he can't seem to throw to his WR's without overthrowing them with his very little Accuracy. They have Derrick Mason(87) who is a decent Overall, but can't really ever get open. This is the same with their other WR's. Todd Heap(91), is the only bright spot in the passing game of the Ravens. Willis McGahee is a great RunningBack, and a 92 Overall, he's helped out by the rookie Ray Rice. It might be a little hard to run with this team however due to the not so great Offensive Line, and the lack of a fear of the Passing "Attack". The strength of the Ravens is their Defense, and boy do they have plenty of weapons. Ed Reed(98), and Dawan Landry(88) make up the best Safety duo in the league, and Chris McCallister(94) is still the shutdown corner he has always been. Terrell Suggs(88), Ray Lewis(94), and Bart Scott(90) are probably the best trio of Line Backers in the AFC. The Defensive Line ain't bad either with Gregg(88),Pryce(90), and Ngata(91). When you look at the Defense of this team you should automatically think they are worthy of a top 15 rank, but the Offense is so bad it evens everything out.

    25) St.Louis Rams - The St.Louis Rams have it all on offense. They have a decent Offensive Line, a Superstar Runningback in Steven Jackson that can catch, and run. They have a great Tight End in Randy McMichael, and 2 good Wide Receivers in Tory Holt(93), and Donnie Avery(76). Although Donnie Avery is only a 76 he has all the tools necessary to be a great WR in Madden, he is just low on the Awareness so his overall suffers a little bit. The defense highlights it's line. With Adam Carriker being an 89 Overall, Leonard Little still has it with an 87 Overall, and Rookie DE Chris Long comes into the season as a 84 Overall. The LineBackers are a help to the defense with Witherspoon(92), and Tinoisamoa(85). The CB's on the Rams dropped throughout the season, and are basically just a pathetic group. The only good player in this secondary is O.J. Atogwe(90), as he comes into this year with some of the highest catch rating you will ever see from a Defensive Back.

    26) San Francisco 49ers - The 49ers biggest weakness is QB, but the thing is... he isn't all that bad. He isn't ideal obviously, but he is good enough to hit the targets on the 49ers offense.Isaac Bruce(86) is a great WR, and maybe he isn't the fastest but he still gets open.Bryant Johnson comes over from Arizona as an 82 Overall who is a faster target than Bruce, and makes a decent WR duo.Vernon Davis is the ultimate over achiever in Madden, as he basically the best Tight End in the game, and is probably the 49ers main offensive weapon. Running Back Frank Gore(93) is one of the best Power Backs in this game, and while running behind a mediocre offensive line he is still very effective. The defense of the 49ers is great. With Line Backers Takeo Spikes, Patrick Willis, and Manny Lawson holding down the middle of the field, and helping out the pass rush coming mainly from newly acquired Justin Smith. The 49ers lack at the safety position as none of their starters break the 80 Overall mark. The Corner Backs are a different story however, as they are both above 88 Overall, and make a great duo to finish off the great defense of San Francisco.

    27) Cincinnati Bengals - The Cincinnati Bengals might not be a top 25 team in the NFL, but in Madden they have one of the best Offenses in the game. With Carson Palmer still being one of the top QB's in the game that automatically makes them somewhat of a threat. When you add the fact that they have Chad Ocho Cinco(97), and T.J. Houshmanzadeh(95) it just puts fear into opposing D's eyes. Now Cincy might not have the greatest running game with the departure of Rudi Johnson, but Chris Perry isn't a horrible Running Back in Madden.(I wish I can say the same for real life.)
Cincinnati has an average defense. With no more Justin Smith they really don't have any pass rushers, or anyone good on the defensive line. The LineBackers highlight Keith Rivers(84). Keith is one of the fastest LB's in the game, and he basically plays a lot like Patrick Willis. Nedu Ndukwe probably is your biggest playmaker in the Secondary, and even though your corners have speed, they are one of the worst groups in Madden.

    28) Atlanta Falcons - Atlanta rolls into the 28 spot, and maybe a little too low for some people? I don't know... because when who are you going to replace them with? Anyways, Matt Ryan is a big reason this team isn't next to last. Ryan is a great Quarterback, and he has a great Receiver to throw it to in Roddy White(89). He is really the only passing weapon Atlanta has with no good Tight End, but you won't need to pass much with the 2 headed monster in the backfield. Michael Turner is a nice power back and stands at an 89 Overall, while Jerious Norwood is a nice Speed back. Atlanta's defense is very average while John Abraham(94) highlights the whole squad. Michael Boley(87), Rookie Curtis Lofton(81), and Keith Brooking(89) hold down the defense, as no one in the secondary is higher than an 82 overall.

    But wait there's more...

    29) Miami Dolphins - The Dolphins now have 2 new Quarterbacks in Chad Pennington(84), and Chad Henne(79). Pennington has a 94 Accuracy while Henne has a 95 Power. So basically you have a wide choice on which QB you want to start due to your playing style. Miami's Offensive Line is better now than it has ever been, and they also have 2 great RunningBacks in 92 Overall Ronnie Brown, and 88 Overall Spliffy Williams. While the Overalls of their Wide Receivers are pathetic Ted Ginn Jr. makes a good deep threat with his 98 Speed. Just don't try to throw into traffic with this team. The Dolphins defense isn't all that bad even with the departure of Jason Taylor. Jason Ferguson(84), and Vonnie Holliday(84) make a decent team of pass rushing DT's while Joey Porter(88), and Channing Crowder(85) make a pretty good pair of LineBackers. Will Allen highlights the only player in the Secondary worth mentioning with his 86 Overall, and his 98 Speed Rating.

    30) Kansas City Chiefs - The Chiefs are best when using QuarterBack Brody Croyle, and I feel that even though their offensive line is probably the worst it has ever been. Larry Johnson(92), and Rookie Jamal Charles(76) are 2 Runningbacks that can make that system work. KC always has one of the best Tight Ends in the game to throw it to in 97 Overall Tony Gonzalez, and when it comes to Wide Receivers all they really have is Dwayne Bowe(90). When mixed up well, the Chiefs offense isn't completely as horrible as some people say it is. The defense is above average. Tamba Hali(81) is declining, and Glenn Dorsey(84) is pretty much a waste of talent at the DT spot. I would move him to DE if you have the chance. The Linebackers of this team are the strength with Donnie Edwards(93), and Derrick Johnson(93). Their secondary is very weak, but also very young, and Patrick Surtain would be the only one worth mentioning with his 89 Overall.

    31) Houston Texans - The Houston Texans appear on my list as the next to worst team in the game. Matt Schaub is good, but he only has one Wide Receiver to throw it to. Although Andre Johnson is one of the best in the game, you need more than one target sometimes. Owen Daniels is a great Tight End but you may have to keep him blocking a lot due to the fact that Houston has one of the worst Offensive Lines in the game. There is no more Ahman Green domination, however Steve Slaton(80) is blossoming into a great Running Back as a gem in the late rounds of the draft. If only you can actually find some holes in that line to run him. The Defensive Line is probably the best part about the Texans defense as they have Mario Williams(97), and Amobi Okoye(92). The Texans really have no one in the secondary except for Dunta Robinson(87) who can be deadly at times with his 96 Speed. Houston offers us a good LineBacker duo in Morlon Greenwood(89), and DeMeco Ryans(95).

    32) Detroit Lions - The Detroit Lions are the final team on my list. With the recent loss of Roy Williams(92), Calvin Johnson(91) has to do it all by himself now. Detroit has no Tight End, and the a bad Offensive Line. Kevin Smith is a great young Running Back but it is very hard to run behind such a bad line. Detroit lost Shaun Rogers, but it seems like it doesn't matter. Corey Redding is better(91). DeWayne White(86), and rookie Cliff Avrill (76) usually out plays his overall. Ernie Sims is the only good LB they have with a 94 Overall, and he usually plays very well in Madden because he is so fast. Leigh Bodden has a good Overall at 90, but he is slow, and they don't really have to much help in the secondary. Point is Detroits Defense is probably the worst in the game. Along with their shitty offensive line, and them losing a superstar Wide Receiver... this team is doomed.

Well folks that it. Flame on. Discuss.

Detroit is by far not even close to being a bad defense. They have nice safteys, Bodden is a beast, and that d-line is nasty.

When I did play madden, Avril got relentless pressure all game. The QB almost everyplay had no time at all to pass without blitzing.

Michael Lewis is actually well above 80 overall at SS for the Niners. Can't remember exactly but he's like in the 86ish range.

Can't really argue with their ranking. Probably just because I play with them so much, but I would probably put them a little higher but that's just me.

Defense is much better than majority of people think though. Having 2 LB's with 90+ speed is awesome. Clements matches up with most wide outs. The biggest weakness as you said is at FS, however Goldson is very good when manually controlled. Tall, solid speed, jump and tackling.

Hopefully Singletary can light a fire under their asses and we can turn this season around and get some love in the updates.

Yeah, I play very well with the 49ers, I just didn't know where to put them if I put the higher. Defense is very underrated by the Maddenites. I made a mistake with Lewis overall. I totally forgot about him.

                  Lions worst team?
                  Lions > Seahawks

                  That is just my opinion.

                      No not just Calvin Johnson.

I was the Seahawks in a league before, and they were honestly terrible. They just aren't a good team.

Calvin Johnson is a hell of a player in Madden though.

The Lions in Madden are a beast

                        I start Stanton at QB.

Furrey is a beast at #2 because of his hands, CJ is just plain unfair.

Kevin Smith breaks lots of tackles.

on defense, they get relentless pressure, stop the run, and for the most part contain the passing.
