I've never really been a huge fan of soccer but I love the game. If you like the tactical based aspect or if you just like text sims in general, pick this up.

Time to give this another update. I've got a good game going, so may see some more updates here.

I have finally got a game I like going with Newcastle. All of this is from just after the January transfer window in my first season,

We are playing very average football. Losing close to the top teams, narrowly beating the bad teams, and drawing with everyone in between. My goal for this season was to finish midtable, while also consolidating the crap talent on the team. I think both goals have been accomplished. Here are my transfers:

    And the current squad

    And the table

So, I have been able to dump players I hate like Alan Smith, Geremi, Barton, Ryan Taylor and Kevin Nolan all while using the money to bring in youngsters and players that can grow.

Mollo and Capoue have been two solid contributors since coming in from France, as has Fleck. The real contributors have been Collocinni at the back, and Jonas' pace on the wing. Liverpool offered 16.5 mil for Fabricio and AC offered 9 mil for Jonas. Both were denied.

My next move will be for a keeper. Harper has done OK, but I think a solid keeper at the back would make a huge difference.

I've been without my own cpu for 2 months so I haven't been able to play in ages. Thankfully the new Mac is on the way. Is it true that Steam doesn't support Macs, and I'll have to buy the game from Amazon?

Edit- Oh and I lol'ed when I saw Owen was injured.
Haha, he is my leading scorer, but its been a succession of 6-10 day injuries of late. I won't make any effort to resign him this offseason I don't think.

I don't know about Steam though. it is a PC based platform, so I would not be surprised. I believe they have a digital download for Macs at SI

I don't have any bookmarked. I'd recommend the SI FM Graphics forum, and just look there a bit. I think there are a bunch of links.

Only 4 games left for Newcastle, still have an outside shot at 7th or 8th (in 9th currently). Will post an end of season recap when I get there.

The big news though is that Hoffenheim striker Demba Ba is joining for 6 mil. With MIchael Owen not being retained, Ba will step right into the starting striker role

I am going to need to see what type of money I get access to. My bank balance is at like 3 mil right now, and purchasing Ba is going to be a big dent in that. I am counting on my Premier Leauge payout being a decent bit of cash. Thats also why Europe would be super nice.

Obafemi Martins has no place in my squad now (his technical and mental attributes are shit) as Ba will start, while Xisco and John Fleck will provide backup (though Fleck plays AML and AMC as well, I love his flexibility). Fleck actually broke his elbow or something and won't be available again until next season. He was beasting it. Had a couple of appearences on the Young Player of the Month, and also was third in Player of the Month for March.

Signing Andres D'Allesandro was a brilliant piece of business I have to say. Since I sold that fat piece of shit Nolan, he has scored like 5 times in 10ish appearences (Nolan scored 2 in 25) all for cheaper than Nolan. And he is still a relatively young 27. Only downside is he can't control his temper. One of his 'preferred moves' is 'argues with ref' and when I asked him to stop doing that, he laughed me off. He got three matches for stomping someone already and I think more are in the future.

As to your original Q, Akinfeev and Neur (and Ochoa) are all primary targets. I like the build of my team now (I also added G. Demel from Hamburg as defensive cover and he has been really good as a holding mid) so keeper is going to be the primary focus. Might go after Sergio Romero from AZ as a cheaper option

My game should be here on Monday. About fucking time. I'm already chomping at the bit to play a game with Dortmund.
Yeah, Man Citeh's purchases really came through for them. I know I lost like 5-1, my heaviest loss of the season

Here is the squad the start of the 2010 season. Quite excited for some of these guys. Paid big bucks for Renan from Botafogo, who my scouts really like. Mexican 101 cap player Oswaldo Sanchez will provide backup. Demba Ba joined as mentioned, he should be good. Sergio Busquets joined on a free, which allowed me to sell Danny Guthrie as he was unhappy at being not allowed to discuss terms with Spurs.

Amr Zaki was cheap striker depth, and I brought in two guys from Udinese to provide cover at midfield and right back.

I sold Oba to make room for Demba Ba. And guess who is joint scorer right now through 6 games? Martins and Ba with five each

I'd recommend starting with a team like Chelsea/Arsenal/Manchester United. That way you get lots of money and a talented squad so you can't fuck up too much. As to stats, which ones are you looking for?

Just learned about most of those stats and BTW thanks for the help. Probally gonna run with Machester UTD for a bit till i get better. I moved up to Semi Pro difficulty FTW! LOL. Ill probally bump up the difficulty here soon.

Got any tips for proforming crosses? Im terrible at it. My players always get double teamed whenever i pass it doing the cross.
