    APF 2k8

Just want to say I put this into my PS3 after collecting dust and I must say, this game is SO much fun and plays a great game of football. Especially if you put it on slow . I played with default All-Pro sliders and it played evenly.
I try to play NCAA and Madden but they always piss me off and I am always questioning things about the game. With 2k, I have been playing all night and I haven't had one WTF moment yet. Its just more fun.

I suggest if you have it, to dust it off and play it again.

Oh, get rid of commentary, turn it all the way down. Turn PA guy up all the way, he is actually very good.
Turn down the music, crowd to about 40.. players to about 20.

Plays an incredibly good game of football. It just has absolutely nothing to offer, mode-wise. Team creation hasn't aged well, either. Mostly because TeamBuilder has been something that I've really enjoyed in NCAA.

In this case, I don't care about modes. It's just fun.

Its cool until all the glitching online. I forget what it was but I remember it got stupid. But yes the gameplay was light years aheadof madden in 08

From whistle to whistle, its better than Madden now really. Sure , it isn't polished but remember the game is basically a revamped 2k5 with the same animations and such.

The presentation is much better than any EA football game.

It is a shame (as we all know) that the game isn't more customizable and that it lacks features but just for straight up football, its hard to beat.

I will admit, Madden is getting better but its still trying to replicate what 2k5 did 7 years ago.

I am TRULY hoping that Madden '12 makes me not want to play anything else, but I won't hold my breath.

What kills me about Madden is that one year it is easier to run and difficult to pass, then the next its almost impossible to run but you pass well. It goes like that for the defensive side and it always seems to alternate from year to year. Can't they just get it right? I know there are balancing issues and things are tweaked from year to year, but this back and forth needs to stop.

What pisses me off the most is how you can be systematically destroying a team, but all of the sudden they find some way to come back and get a couple scores. That makes little sense.

I do wish that there were not these "exclusive" agreements. It takes away from the potential to make better games.

Lets hope this changes, competition is good.

I like Madden and NCAA, I play them both but I find myself turning the game off because it just seems like every plays outcome is pre-determined. You get stuck in some animation, (like that sideline catch) and you might as well just put your controller down.

Now, I'm not praising 2k at all. In fact, I haven't touched APF 2k8 in 2 years but after I put it in the other day, I quickly realized how good it really is. Now, I'm happy just playing exhibition games so the depth doesn't matter much to me.

I just want to play a solid football game, I don't care about the stats that much. Stats dont' really matter when the gameplay sucks.

If I want stats, I play OOTP 12.

I've been playing the shit out of this game recently. I love the team creator, I've made like 5 teams in the past couple of days, each with a different philosophy. My favorite so far has been my team, the New York Flight.

                Defense:
                G: CB Rod Woodson
                S: OLB Jessie Tuggle
                B: CB Albert Lewis
                B: DE Clyde Simmons
                B: DT Dan Saleaumua
                B: FS Eugene Robinson

                Offense:
                G: WR Jerry Rice
                S: QB Randall Cunningham
                S: WR Andre Reed
                B: HB Dave Megett
                B: C Jesse Sapolu

When making my teams, I use 2 guidelines. 1- The player must still be alive, and the player had to play in at least the 1997 season, when I really started to watch football.

I do have one team however, where I have both Derrick Thomas and Reggie White. Its unfair how good of a combo that team is.

                  and still above madden 12

MP is active so the replay-ability is still there as well.

LB's are so slow reacting to the run in this game. On defense you should focus on DL and CB's.

Very good game though, I'm still playing it.

                        My team:

                        Offense:
                        G Jerry Rice
                        S Randall Cunningham
                        S Ben Coates
                        B Freeman McNeil
                        B Steve Tasker
                        B John Taylor

                        Defense:
                        G Reggie White
                        S Jerome Brown
                        B Albert Lewis
                        B Terry McDaniel
                        B Clyde Simmons

                        /Boss

Thinking about replacing Rice with Derrick Thomas and then replacing Clyde Simmons with Cliff Branch.
