New Borderlands 2 DLC Includes New Vault Hunter
SXSW presentation teases upcoming content.
Originally posted by IGNDuring a panel at SXSW today, Gearbox revealed that a new Vault Hunter is coming to Borderlands 2. In a teaser shown at the panel, Gearbox teased that "deep beneath Pandora, an experiment has escaped. Bandits beware, a new Vault Hunter is coming. More mayhem awaits."
For now, additional details (including a release date) haven’t been revealed, though Gearbox franchise director Matt Armstrong added that the content will be part of the Borderlands 2 Season Pass and said that “DLC is announced on a very tight schedule, and I don't think you'll have to wait long until you see that character."
Back in December, Gearbox told IGN that it will continue to support Borderlands 2 with downloadable content, and could even offer an additional content season after the current one concludes. Previously, Gearbox PR and marketing manager Adam Fletcher hinted at “possibilities of incorporating additional characters."
In addition to the three expansions released so far (Captain Scarlett and Her Pirate’s Booty, Mr. Torgue’s Campaign of Carnage and Sir Hammerlock’s Big Game Hunt), Gearbox previously released the Mechromancer class as downloadable content. The current season pass includes at least four add-on campaigns.Comment

I'm going to wait and see as far as this DLC goes.
Gearbox didn't do itself any favors allowing Pitchford to preach on his stump that if you didn't like Colonial Marines, that's on you the player and not them...
BUT...
I gotta believe that if there's something they won't fuck up, it's this franchise.
I just wonder how many people are still going to want to fork over another wad of cash for a game most have moved on from and won't pay for extras like skins you can't trade to friends.Comment

I honestly haven't been very impressed with the Borderlands 2 DLC so far, and if Gearbox decides to charge extra for a level cap increase, I'm sure as hell not going to buy it.Comment

Celebrate the Luck of the Zafords in Borderlands 2 this weekend with special in-game events and gear!
Each year, around this time, the Zaford clan takes a break from their war with the Hodunk bandit family to celebrate their good fortune and honor those that have passed on, such as that time Scooter buried their son alive in a shallow grave.
During this time, those who play Borderlands 2 while connected to the internet will see a temporary increase in the drop rates and rarity of shields! Plus, Absorb shields will have a better chance to absorb enemy bullets and Booster shields will have a higher chance of dropping a shield Booster when damaged.
In addition, the Zafords have prepared special gifts! To receive your celebratory Zaford gear, including special green skins for each character and a Chulainn SMG that will be the the same level as (and appear in the backpack of) the first character you load, enter the SHiFT codes below into Borderlands 2:
PC / Mac Zaford Gear SHiFT Code: KTCBJ-C9RTC-BSFTJ-33TT3-FBWHF
Xbox 360 Zaford Gear SHiFT Code: KJCJ3-RCWC6-5K9BF-WFBT3-3WFKK
PlayStation 3 Zaford Gear SHiFT Code: CTK3B-99K3J-XXKW3-ZTWTJ-HJH5J
It's the same gun you get if you...
pick the Zafords at the end of the Clan War sidequests
...but the stats might be improved a little.
Also the Drop Rates are up with Rare Shields showing up more often on top of Booster/Absorb Shield stats being upgraded for the time being.
It'd be a good time to get in if you are going through PT2.Comment

Borderlands 2’s Level Cap Will Go Up To 61 On April 2
At Gearbox's PAX East panel today, the developers of Borderlands 2 announced that players maxed out at level 50 will finally be able to get to leveling their characters again. As of April 2nd (next week!) you can download what is basically DLC for 11 extra levels (that's up to 61).
But it'll cost you $5 for the add-on, unless you've got that nifty season pass.
The add-on will also come with the return of the Pearlescent weapon type, which was a set of high-level weapon drops and an extremely rare find in Borderlands 1. We haven't seen this weapon type in the sequel yet, but if you download the add-on next week, you might see it pop up here and there if you're lucky to find one of those crafty little guns.
If you've played Borderlands 2 to completion and then played it through to completion a second time on True Vault Hunter Mode, and you're still looking for more, you'll be happy to hear that the game is getting something of a new game plus plus mode.
It's called Ultimate Vault Hunter Mode, and you'll have to be at level 50 to run through on what will essentially be a third playthrough. This official third playthrough means, of course, that the difficulty will be scaled much higher. Gearbox announced the news today at their PAX East panel.
The update comes out next week on April 2. Best news, though? It's a completely free update.

It better damn well be no extra cost for season pass holders. Gearbox would've lost my support if it wasn't included.Comment

After Colonial Marines, waiting so long to do the Level Cap increase (who here is honestly going to play the game AGAIN on a harder difficulty that PT2, through ALL the DLC?) and the 4th DLC level still on tap...
That new melee DLC character when we already have Zero is awful as well.Comment
