Official Madden 12 Demo Impressions Thread

Demo all about getting used to the "feel" of the game. Seeing if the controls are tighter and what you can and cannot do when passing, running etc...

I agree with the 5-minute quarter thing. It was actually a concern I brought up when I went to EA Canada for the NCAA Basketball 09 community event. I told them their demos are too fucking short ... and they'd hardly lose any money giving us longer demos.

You can adjust sliders in the demo, penalty sliders speed and everything. First time I've noticed that in a ea football demo maybe it's been there before though.

Demo is cool.

Some random thoughts...


-Lighting is noticeably better, much better. Shadows really add alot of depth and detail to the players.

-Player models got a decent improvement, facial animations can look weird (eyes sometimes look in odd directions, lol) but decent none the less.

-Small touches like grass stains, helmet scratches, all look pretty good.

-I'm kicking handicapped at the moment, shanked 5 out of the 8 kicks I made in my first go at it. Half the time I feel the controller isn't registering the button press but I may just be early.

-Speaking of kicking, blocked an XP but not in the typical way you're used to. 2nd guy to the right of the NT, shot through a gap and dove across making a block. Can't say I've ever seen that in Madden before and I hope it's something that's possible with realistic regularity.

-Tackling is tight, no more wide open shit like Madden 11.

-Presentation is upgraded nicely, not the greatest thing since sliced bread but a good improvement. At the end of the game, the "do not broadcast with out express written constent from the NFL..." message was funny to see.

-I don't get why EA said to hot route in the demo, I didn't see anything from doing it?

-Replays better not be limited to the last 5 seconds, that shit is lame.

-Crowd still sucks dick.

-CPU still can't punt for shit, fuck you EA.

This! 2 min qtrs is terrible. You cannot do shit with 2 min qtrs. Now just gotta wait till the PSN updates.

Reading OS forums other people have seen blocked FG's, looks like it might be a real possibility that FG's aren't 95% automatic anymore.
