It's not the same as Source though. It's not the console version as source.

It's a whole another game in itself and will also be released on Steam. Which is most likely what I will be getting it on.

Depends on who gets it via XBL if I get it on 360.

I wonder if this will be cross-platform like Portal 2.

That would be sweet. Speaking of Portal, that game is awesome. My buddy and I are about halfway through the co-op campaign.

A little update on cross-platform play:

Gabe Newell has said one of the goals Valve has set with Counter-Strike: Global Offensive is the inclusion of cross-platform play.

Speaking in a video interview with PC Games at gamescom, Newell said Valve feels gamers should be able to play together no matter what platform they are using.

“We never want to create these ‘islands of players’,” he said. “You have to be sensitive to control differences, and make sure you’re accommodating that, but, you know, our view is players should be able to play as part of a community on whatever device they can.

“You know, sometimes there are contractual, or other issues that make that hard, where somebody, a platform holder doesn’t want you to do that for whatever reason, but our preference is always to let customers play and be part of the larger community.”

CSGO is targeted for release in early 2012 and will be playable at this year’s PAX Prime and Eurogamer Expo 2011.

It's good to hear that Valve is at least attempting to make this happen.

I mentioned in another thread that another company was attempting cross-platform gaming after reading an article on Kotaku. Whatever the game was, some FPS, was being demoed cross-platform. I know you will be shocked, but allegedly MS is doing everything in their power to keep it from happening because they have the most to lose. Because they charge for their online service a lot of their customers would be questioning why they are paying to play when people that are playing the same game on PS3 or PC with them would be playing for free.

I thought there was a study conducted not too long ago that showed console and PC gamers were on an even playing field as far as controlling was concerned? They basically proved that the 'faster with keyboard and mouse' was a total myth.

Not with the original Counter Strike....that game is super fast. This game will be made with Console and PC in mind so I am sure the advantage, if any, will be minimal.

as long as they have perfect hit boxes on release date...

I remember when CS:S released... god awful hit boxes.

Cross-platform play is confirmed for PS3 and PC/Mac. PS3 users can also play with keyboard/mouse combo or the Move in addition to the Dualshock 3.

I've played Counter-Strike: Global Offensive and can now say it's for me, too.
