Rugby anyone?

Two Rugby games look to launch this fall.

I've tried the demo for RWC on Xbox Live and its pretty cool but I'm hoping Rugby Challenge will have more depth and options as far as camera view, gameplay ect. As of right now I plan on getting at least one Rugby game this fall along with FIFA 12 and NHL 12 for my sports gaming.

Anyone else excited about these games or a tab bit interested in Rugby?

Funny thing is, I downloaded the World Cup one the same day I did Madden. I played more rugby then Madden demo.

It is an interesting game, and if NHL wasn't coming out like 2 weeks after I'd give it a serious thought, but I just got NCAA a month ago, need a new headset for NHL and NHL its self, plus I don't see a huge community for rugby. It would be one of those pick ups when it is $19.99 or something. But not paying $60 for it.

As for the game play, I thought it was good. Kind of funny when you go from running in football to rugby, because you pick up a lot of the habits from it. Only thing I could not figure out was the scrum, but everything else was good.

i didn't care for the Rugby WC game. Found it a bit bland and the player AI to be quite poor...although it was on easy.

I wish demo's would always let you change difficulty. Score 2 tries the first couple games, then last time I played I scored 7 in a half. So that kind of ended playing the game.

Oh yeah the AI in RWC was definitely an issue IMO, maybe it was just the difficulty but my teammates and opposing CP were dumb as fuck and horrible in the open field.

I was reading about these two on OS a few months ago, doesn't one game have a majority of the national team licenses or something. Guessing that would be Rugby Challenge going off of the covers.

Rugby World Cup 2011's wiki says

The game will feature all twenty international teams competing in the 2011 Rugby World Cup. However, not all twenty teams will be officially licensed. So far, both the All Blacks (New Zealand), and the Wallabies (Australia), have been confirmed as unlicensed, due to their exclusive licensing deal with rival video game Rugby Challenge.

I started playing the rugby world cup demo

sucks that you can only play one half

really sucks you can only play it on easy - it's like playing madden on rookie, the AI just gives you the openings, after you start to figure out how the game works you'll be putting up score after score and it'll just get out of hand.

I'd be interested to see how those other games play though.

Yeah the demo isn't helped by being corraled into playing on easy and for only 5 minutes. I also hope there's an up/down camera angle so we can actually see where kicks are going. Game overall just seems so basic in any case. Not even a rental for me.

Game was certainly interesting...although it would probably help if I had ANY idea whatsoever of the rules of Rugby. Playing the game I picked up a few of the more obvious ones, but I'm still essentially clueless.
