Agreed. Horrible, horrible job.
I don't know why there haven't been some cooperative NFL/Sony commercials ala the Netflix ones where they say "Streaming also available on your favorite gaming console" at the end.
And like Godspeed said, besides Kotaku and here, I would've never known about this. What does that say about the average consumer/casual gamer?Comment

DirecTV wants you to subscribe to their full TV package so they can make more profit and count you as a sub. They also must get most of the revenue and Sony isn't really that vested in the success of the program. Either that or the suits at Sony are not seeing the huge upside of this venture.Comment

It's not clear that DirecTV is directly involved in this deal is it? I know they have exclusive broadcast rights but this might be a streaming agreement that the NFL awarded to Sony. If that is the case, Sony must have picked it up for a song or otherwise they would be marketing the hell out of it to get a return on their investment.
The flipside of that is that maybe DirecTV gets most of the revenue and Sony isn't really that vested in the success of the program. Either way it seems like the suits at Sony are not seeing the huge upside of this venture.Comment

I went back and looked at the press release and saw it was a partnership with them. Too much to drink on Monday afternoon :DComment

The Playstation blog has been updated with details of the program. I just checked the XMB crossbar and Playstation store and the app or link is not online yet. The link to the video gives you a good idea of how it is going to work. Looks pretty damn slick!
Better late than never.....
Kickoff the NFL Season on PS3 with the NFL SUNDAY TICKET App, Available Today on PlayStation Network
+ Posted by Philip Rosenberg // Senior Vice President, Business Development, SCEA
We recently announced our partnership with DIRECTV to bring their most popular sports subscription service, NFL SUNDAY TICKET, directly to you via your PlayStation 3. Starting later today, you can access the direct link in the My Channels category under the TV/Video Services icon on the XMB (XrossMediaBar) or head over to the media category of the PlayStation Store to download the app in anticipation of the new 2011 NFL season.
This Sunday, PS3 owners without access to DIRECTV will be able to live stream every out-of-market Sunday NFL game on their PS3 with a subscription to NFL SUNDAY TICKET. You’ll be able to enhance your NFL experience with live multi-game scoreboards and field position trackers, which also allow you to access highlights, stats, standings and schedules, as well as the Red Zone Channel, which gives you live coverage of Sunday’s most exciting moments. The subscription for the 2011 season can be purchased directly through the app for $339.95. Existing subscribers can use the PS3 as an additional receiver in their home, as part of their NFL SUNDAY TICKET To-Go package, which is purchased through DIRECTV.
Check out the video to see how the app works on PS3:

Why would anyone need to do this? I assume if you have a TV it already has a DTV receiver?Comment

How quickly can I switch between games?
How Laggy is it on a wireless connection?
Do I need to hard wire it?
How is the PS controller with controlling the interface?
I can't watch my Giants on this if they are on Fox?
So if I wanted to switch between the local game and others I could not?Comment

Yeah I'm definitely not sold. While it would be amazing if it functioned properly I can't pony up that kind of money not knowing what I'm getting myself into.TST Tennessee Titans
