    Fifa 12 MM Thread

I figured I would start this thread since it has not been done yet. I finally started a MM a few days ago as Man City. I really like the new additions to MM this year. Plus, they make transfer deadline day really fun. Just a few notes from my MM thus far:

    - Malaga made a whopping offer of £36,000,000 for Vincent Kompany. I turned it down as he is my best CB and is one of the best IRL right now.

    - Kolo Toure was a popular man. I received 3 offers for him. 2 from Chelsea for £12mm and £14mm respectively. Malaga also offered £10mm.

    - A lot of my transfer offers were unsolicited as well.

    - I received a pop-up from Carlos Tevez who stated he could "no longer see himself playing for the club." This was 2 days before the transfer window closed.

    - Listed Tevez and got 2 offers immediately. Bayern Munich offered £40.5mm and Real Madrid offered £49mm. I sold him off to Real.

    - I needed an additional striker now and I attempted to make a big splash, like City was rumored to be doing over the summer for Ronaldo. I offered Real £95mm and they turned it down. They countered with £106mm. I moved on.

-I didn't want to lose out, so I offered Man Utd £3.5mm for Michael Owen as a "plan b" if I couldn't sign anyone.

    - I threw a last minute offer to AC Milan for Pato for £50mm. They agreed and I signed Pato to a 4-year deal for £140,000 per week.

    - Right now, I am playing a 4-4-1-1 with Aguero and Pato up front. My midfield is Nasri, Milner, Silva and Yaya Toure. My defense is Richards, Kolo Toure, Kompany and Clichy with Hart in goal.

    - I'm currently sitting 3rd with 16 points, just 3 behind United who sit in 1st place.

    - The board has directed me to win the EPL this season with a deep cup run as well. If I don't meet expectations, I may be out of a job lol.

You could've sold Kompany and bought younger talent, you are Man City.

True. However, I want to win the league and I would rather have a higher rated Kompany than a lower rated, high potential, player. Once I get some backing from the board, those moves are likely to be made.

I was shocked at that amount as well. However, like I said before, the board wants a league title and with the poor teammate AI makes me want to be cautious with my backline. Due to that I turned it down. If I win the EPL, I figure it buys me time and I can be more cavalier in my moves. Some more notes from my MM:

        - news item came up that said Fulham was bought by a wealthy Russian group who plans to pump money into the club to compete with the big boys.

        - Adam Johnson has been complaining about his playing time

        - My scouts are in Germany and Spain right now. I have signed a few promising players to my youth squad. One has a potential of 83-91.

        - Next match is against Man Utd. The game was moved up from Oct 23 to Oct 9.

        - one more interesting note is that when I was selling Tevez, the board emailed me and said they decided to sell him despite my wishes because they felt he was a distraction. Right after that a news story popped up about me and the board at odds over the tranfer of Tevez. Pretty cool.

The transfer fees in this game are crazy. Sneijder went for 75 mil in mine.

I've also heard of MLS teams getting scooped up by investors with Man City money.

Lost to ManU 1-0 on a bullshit goal in the 45th minute in the first half. Then drew against Aston Villa. My attack is really lacking right now. Obviously, that is on me, but, a cup game against South Hampton should be the right prescription for what ails me.

Beat Southampton FC last night 3-1. Goals came from Balotelli, Johnson and Yaya Toure.

I forgot to mention in an earlier post that I have been without, and will continue to be, Pato, Lescott and Kolo Toure for an extended period of time. Pato with a sprained ankle (3 weeks), Lescott with a fractured tailbone (3 months) and Kolo Toure has a MCL issue.

You need to have Kolarov out wide on the left with his crossing ability. Switch him with Richards.

I will definitely try that! Thanks for the tip. I have only been following the EPL/International club football for ~2 years so I am still learning the game IRL, so if anything seems wonky let me know. I will say though, that I do look at player ratings and I like to keep guys fresh my tinkering with the lineup so if you do see some strange formations, etc. that is likely the reason.

My step-father is originally from Liverpool so he is obviously a big Liverpool fan. We talk EPL and stuff, but, he also lives in Massachusetts. Message boards are much easier to access info from than calling him multiple times a week. He was a little disappointed that I wasn't following Liverpool lol...

The CPU has this problem where it just works the ball all around until they get a "perfect" shot. I'm winning games 2-0, 2-1, 1-0, etc and the CPU gets next to zero shots but I'm also losing possession battles on average of 65/35. There is something fucked with the AI where the CPU is just too cautious and careful with the ball. It should be taking a crack when they get some open space anywhere around the box. Instead, it really only takes the highest quality chances. Most of the time it tries to work the ball into the box and just gets it stolen away after holding the ball for 10 minutes. It's almost unbearable to play the CPU.

                        I'm on Professional, btw.

Just want to endorse the Full Manual control style for playing Fifa! I tried it last night and it opened the game up so much. A lot more realistic passing and interactions. Played an exhibition as Lille against Inter and lost 2-1. But the build up, passing, defense all felt much better.

Try upping the difficulty. This was the case in Fifa 11 for me on Professional. They would literally be one on one with the keeper and not shoot.
