There is no sprinting that I know of. I believe it might be y cause I remember just messing around with a couple of those buttons and it switched players for me. It is not x because X is to dive.
I played 4 games in the demo, had the controls down for the most part by the third game. I still dont fully understand pitching or hitting really. I did manage to make a pretty sick diving catch though.
