One more thing to keep it aesthetically pleasing is to center the FOOT with the brackets vertically.

Gonna sound like an asshole but I like this one better:



The flat brackets feel like it's a logo for a DOOM clan; this one above looks like a Military Logo.

I agree with you. We can do both though, and leave it up to each person to pick? I have it set up in photoshop so that I can revert it back to the other FOOT logo
