when u buy a new game on day 1 or day 1000 the developer has already made there money from the distributor.
So when your at gamestop, walmart or whatever store u use to buy the game from you are paying them full price so they make there money. This is why all these places want you to preorder so they dont over buy from the manufacturer of the game.Comment

its good that u dont feel like it cause i would be forced to destroy you.
its pretty simple and no different then anything else. Distributors buy from the manufacturer and sell to the retailer. Companies that sell games buy a certain number of copies from the makers. The makers dont just give them away to the sellers and say pay us later...or give us back whatever u dont sell. that wouldnt be good business would it?Comment

OK, so what about when the retailers sell out of THEIR original stock? The only reason that happens is when people buy new. So then they have to order more stock, which goes directly back to the developer. So even a year later if someone buys a new GoW3 and it's the last copy at Best Buy then BB has to order more new copies, thus giving more money to the developers. Whereas if someone walks into Gamestop and buys a used copy they get squat.
i think cag did a segment on this on one of their podcasts, wombat and cheapy went back and forth with thisComment

i see what twigg is saying. for every copy someone buys used, thats one less copy that is bought new....and yes thats true....but why anyone would give a shit about spending full price so the manufacturer can make their money is beyond me. especially someone as cheap as twigg.
just remember this discussion the next time you think about buying a used carComment

I try and never buy a game for full price because I feel that $60 for most game is ridiculous. The only game I've paid full price for recently is NHL 11, and that's only because I play it pretty much every day so I get my money's worth.Comment

I think COD MW2 is the only non sports game I have bought new in a while. It paid off though, as I have gotten a good amount of replay out of it doing the SpecOps online with a friend.Comment

Not all of the money goes to the developer when you buy a game (obviously,) after talking to a few people at the local gamestop a long time ago I found out what actually happens. They give the developer a number of copies they want, pay part of the price (aka the price to manufacture the game,) then, once those copies are sold, a percentage of the profit goes to the dev.
Anyways, PS3 is on its way today, only going to have Uncharted 2 for now, if anyone wants to play I'll post up my PSN as soon as I make it lol.
Walmart and best buy dont do used games so there would be value there for the developers. If they offer those deals to places that deal in used games then they are only hurting themselves and imo deserve to take the lose on used games for being stupid.Comment

I'm not trying to preach doomsday though. I don't have a big problem with buying used. I've bought plenty of used games myself. Mostly old games that you can't find in stores anymore anyway. But I defended the original guys post because I honestly believe that if there is a game that I know is quality I have no problem with plunking down full price for it.Comment
