The above post is what really drives the GTA love. Initially it's going to be all about blowing shit up and causing as much havoc as possible. People will rave about the violence in abundance and that will be the focus of the title for the mild/casual gamers. However, I feel like with all GTA's the real appreciation for the game will come long after the release. While you're still playing it despite having already beat it. That has always been the driving force to Rockstar. They don't just make games, they make games with real substance and emotion to them.
Edit: Case and point being GTAIII. The driving force behind that was the violence. So much so that stores began to pull it off their shelves and the "M" rating was really mild when compared to what other games were out at the time. However, when I look back at the replay ability of that game? It's astounding because, the main character is a mute. There weren't any lines or any emotion to him, it was just propelling yourself through mission after mission and yet, I still felt anyways that there was still substance. You were always working towards a goal and while you didn't have the connection that you got with Tommy Vercetti, or Carl Johnson. You still felt for the character who was seeking revenge after being double crossed.
