Online play is better than last year for sure. Still a bit brutal with the hitting but it's workable.

I hit two home runs off of Pete in our game (Rays v Jays), but only had 4 hits total and struck out a ton. Matt Moore is pretty unhittable though and I took a lot of bad swings.

I think that if people start to swing at less junk and wait for a good pitch to hit, the offense will come around. The two games I've played have been 2-1 and 4-3. It's not ideal but there are a lot of balls put in play at least.

Sorry. I'll quit my job to free up more time to increase my sample size for you. Or you could just stop ignoring the people who say that online has improved, too. I've been playing MLB on PS3 since 08. All I need is one game to know that this game isn't all choppy and laggy like previous years. I would have seen the lag in one game in MLB 08-MLB 11.

I guess this really depends on the people you play, their connections, combined with the servers. So it can be a pretty random inconsistent experience for gamers, there isn't going to be a definitive answer.

My friends and I played last year a ton, and we were probably the very few who didnt really have any lag. Games were really smooth. I know it was against the norm of majority of users.

I played 2 games last night with one of my friends I usually play online and they were easily the two worst lagged filled games I've ever played in the show.

That;s the problem. They can't deliver a consistent online experience even after 4 years of building the game. NHL and FIFA are both super smooth. The only time I run into issues is playing some guy in FIFA who is in some shitty costa rican internet.

What is pointing to that? I played one game last night and it was smooth as silk. Others are saying the same thing. The connection issues are much improved this year.

i agree. the game has never been laggy for me at all. but the latency thing is usually there but worse with some guy rather than others. But very minimal lag.

One less Maynard here, thank god... carry on... Game is perfect for me and everbody I've played so far, but VSN knows nothing

How is the gameplay hitting timing online? is it more balanced this year with the hitting?

Baseball has to be the toughest sports game to translate into an online game experience.

The timing on pitching and batting are so fast and so vital to the core of the game.

To me, the timing is fine but take that with a grain of salt because I was a pure analog hitter on '11 so hitting with I'm using square, X, and circle for the first time since '10. I haven't had any issues yet - except that I really suck at picking up on pitch location with the left stick. I still haven't seen a home run or given up an earned run in 2 online "play now" matches.

I won't get to play any more until tomorrow but I do have to say that I'm glad I bought the game. It looks great and the pulse pitching is nice.

Someone said it earlier. That the latency online is "workable". Why the fuck at this day and age should something be workable. They should be able to make a it smooth as shit. The show PS2 online was fine, as was the NCAA baseball game if I recall. And yes OOBL this years madden was the best one yet but it doesnt mean too much when the previous iterations were shit.

The ball doesn't come off the bat the same to me, also it seems like I'm always late on the pitch even when I see the ball fine. I was reading that SCEA can put out a tuner that can adjust this issue, and that they did it last year with 11 after a few weeks of everyone hitting under .150.

It didnt work.

This game doesnt play like 2010, but its not quite as bad as 2011.

The fielding gets worse every year. Last year the players felt like they were in quicksand, this year its even worse.

2010 is long gone. Sigh.

I tried to start up the Diamond Dynasty thingy last nite..........seriously either i am dumb as rocks or wtf is this mode?

just a more involved madden ult team..play around with it a little..i still have no clue what to do with cards or how to spend the points..but you know i like creating my own uniform..the editor is complex too,but i figured out a couple things..i still want a better hat logo though LOL..but they did it so you can completely change the team name and uni any time you want...if someone can tell me how to get borders around letters,that would be nice.....

i did notice...after an online game of Diamond Dyn-head to head....i looked at a slow mo replay of one of my hits..and when you purposely slow it down to watch, the ball would actually stop over the plate before my player swung and hit it...i dont know what that may mean?

Still haven't had any lag issues yet. Everything has been silky smooth. Am loving new animations. BUT had TWO runners thrown out at first by Bobby Abreau on what should have been singles to right. Unheard of! And one of thes runners was thrown out as he went into his rounding first animation.
