[ALL] COD Devs begging for good metacritic scores

    :bowrofl:

Sledgehammer Games' Glen Schofield has taken to Twitter to ask Call of Duty fans to support Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3 on Metacritic.

"I don't usually do this but, if u like MW3 go 2 Metacritic.com & help our user score," writes Schofield. "It's suspiciously low. Be honest but help if u agree."

Modern Warfare 3 is attracting a torrent of user scores of zero across all three platforms. The current user score (out of 10) is 2.7 on Xbox 360, 2.0 on PS3 and 1.5 on PC.

Activision cares about sales and that's what they've gotten with this series.

If it were any other company, there would be more concern for the "8-9-10" style of game ranking that's killed any creativity in the industry due to fans seeing a "bad score" and not buying the title because it didn't get an "10."

It's also a shame that he's being reduced as a developer to getting down on his hands and knees for a number instead of being proud of putting together a somewhat decent cap to a megabucks franchise story.

Why does anyone still care about video game scores? I haven't even looked at one since God of War dropped in '05.

User scores? Really? They are absolutely meaningless. I remember Chodite consistently pointing out that a PS3 exclusive game like Resistance, LBP, Killzone, etc had a really low user score of like 40 on Metacritic. It's because PS3 haters who haven't even played the game would go on there and give it a 0 or a 1. The same thing happens for every 360 exclusive. PS3 fanboys go on there and rape it with low scores. Absolutely pointless.

metacritic isnt useful for the user scores, its useful because it has multiple reviews for the title in one place, so you can read several different peoples takes with little more than a back button, as opposed to haphazardly looking through google. whats more, is they dont link to "jimbobs blog about the game" they link to actual websites with editors and stuff.

i play my games exclusively on the steam platform these days because there are many times we need my laptop for the tv and future mrs. diivox's laptop doesnt have an hdmi port, so with steam i can just play on hers instead. steam provides metacritic links right on their store pages, so its very easy for me to get an idea of what the game is about before i click add to cart.
