Also, one other thing about the final chapter. Spoilers abound of course.

This review really made me contemplate the scene that the reviewer bases a lot of her final score on. Now, I can absolutely disagree with her about the 8/10. For reference she also did a three page review on Infinite and gave it a 10/10 so obviously she and I have very different opinions on games.

Her biggest issue was the scene in the operating room. She says that she was completely pulled out of the experience because instead of ND just giving us a cut scene they let up play that scene out and she decided to shoot the doctors and nurses in the feet and they still died. So basically, there was no choice at all and even if you slightly deviate from what you think the only choice is it breaks the game because the doctors and nurses will die even if you just shoot them in the foot.

Personally, when I got to that part I was so invested in the game and Joel's character that I barely hesitated and thought "Ellie is my adopted daughter now. I'll do anything for her and she doesn't deserve to die even if it means finding a cure/vaccine for this plague." I immediately shot all the medical staff in the face and didn't look back. Several people responded to her review with the same thoughts I had but her response was always the same "But ND didn't give you a choice. It shoud've just been a cut scene." I agree that they didn't give you a choice but I also think that it was on purpose and when you reached the point you should feel there's no choice and do exactly what I did.

Did anyone else treat the scene differently? Did you want to spare them? I'm legitimately curious because I thought ND did an amazing job of putting me in the position I was in where I didn't think twice. In almost any other game I'd want to be the "good guy" per se.

I'm really impressed with this multiplayer. I'm also extremely impressed with how smooth everything plays and the party system. I've yet to see an ounce of lag and once you party up you stick together, which is how it should be. I'm looking at you Battlefield! Also, for the Xbots that say no one uses mics on PS3, the communication is great. I'd estimate that 70% of the people I've played with/against have mics and 98% of them have been cool as fuck and extremely helpful. I asked several questions regarding the mp, and even the campaign, and only got helpful answers, not "Shut up you fucking faggot newb!" I encountered ONE guy last night that was in a part and they were all speaking Spanish. Right befor ethe mash starts he breaks his Spanish and calls us "Faggots".

Maybe I just have really good experiences but this seems to be the status quo for exclusives online on PS3. I've had the same experiences with Warhawk, Starhawk, Uncharted, Killzone, Resistance and now this. It's always nice to know there are still cool gamers out there that aren't just worried about their K/D and just want to enjoy themselves.
Whoops. I thought I said cya to you guys, I must have just imagined that part lol

But yea, maybe its because I always play with 1 person every time I jump online, but I've always had success in the matches whether I get kills or not because we always help each other out through the mic, or revive each other, and the best feature is marking targets. That is very helpful. When you stick together as a group, you can be unstoppable at times. I've found whenever I play against a group that works together, it is really tough to beat them. This is a very teamwork friendly game.

This will be the first time I ever buy a map pack for an online game outside of COD.

      Regarding that ending,

I only killed the one who tried to stop me, every other doctor lived.

played my first online game last night and I see what you guys mean about having to carefully make decisions. I rushed in my first match gunning for someone and was out of ammo in like 5 seconds lol. I may jump on later, Twigg I know you sent me an invite but it was late and I was going to bed after I finished the match I was in

Finished it, what a great game.

The tunnel had me so creeped out, I tried to sneak past and stealth kill as many as I could. As far as the ending goes I felt it fit the story perfectly. I shot the doctor in the face but left the other two alive. It made sense that Joel wouldn't let her die especially since she saved him, it fits with his character perfectly. I don't think a choice was needed especially considering there weren't any other sections with choices like that. Your main choice in the game was stealth or shoot out. For them to have throw it in right at the end just wouldn't make sense because it would've been very out of character for Joel.

That said, I'd be surprised/disappointed if there isn't a sequel.

I don't really get the gripe from the reviewer, seems pretty nit picky. In the end, who cares what a woman thinks anyways

My thoughts on the spoiler comments below:

I don't see the rage against them at all. Their root purpose is nothing but a good thing, to essentially end the infection problem is amazing. The cost however is rather difficult considering it'll be her life. In the end Joel made a very selfish decision to kill em all and run, but ultimately so did the Fireflies as it should have been Ellie's choice.

Even if you want to go with the save the girl route, killing the doctors now sets back the progress massively, perhaps permanently on finding a future cure. Maybe someone else comes along and is the same as Ellie, they can then deal with that shit. If they are dead, the cure cannot happen at all perhaps? That's not cool.

This shit is sitting at a 95 on metacritic. And that's when some outlet I've never heard of (Quarter to Three?) giving it a 6/10.
