Depending on how this all unfolds, I could see myself jumping back to the Xbox bandwagon.

I alternate my fanboyism each generation.

No blu-ray support would kill it though.

11 fixed that but made the defense a bit too gimpy to keep up in my opinion
12 brought back strong D, but they need to tone down the ability to create turnovers and big plays some more and they'll find the pinnacle of this generation.

do that and madden in it's current engine really can't get any better.

still would like an entirely new game though, we've been playing the same engine for too long and it shows with long time players.
The last time EA built an engine from the ground up was for Madden 2000.
This gen they carried over a bulk of that code. That physics engine might as well be a thousand years old. If they do it again....oh lord.

BTW 6 years later we still call these consoles Next Gen. WTF do we call the upcoming ones ?

I'm sure we'll still call it next gen.

As for the video posted by potatoes, why is that the future automatically means neon lights?

We could just start calling them by the generation numbers.

PS3/360 were the 7th gen, so the next cycle will be the the 8th.

Maybe for the next generation they'll build a console that can live more than 3 years.

                    Since 2007 I've had 2 360s die, and I had one PS3 die. 5 years, 3 dead consoles.

                    I know I have been a little unlucky, but...seriously.

Pfft. I'm playing the smallest violin in the world for you right now. Only two 360's? Give me a break. I'm on #6 right now but luckily it's been going strong for a while. I'm still on my first PS3 and Wii though.

I'm on #3 360. I had one from launch that just died a few months ago. I got an elite a long time ago and gave my old xbox360 to my stepbrother but my dog pissed on my elite so i took the old 360 back.

Still have the same ps3 and wii though.

                            Doubtful.

As long as people want the cheapest price and whine about things being more then they used to be console makers will continue to use the cheapest parts possible and quality will be an afterthought.

C'mon man. You can't honestly write off this generation of consoles like that. The 360 single handedly fucked everything up this gen because MS rushed it to market. Never has a console been so shoddy and I highly doubt that mistake will ever happen again. Do these companies use the most top of the line materials to make these things? Of course not. But the issues with the 360 was a total abberation that won't be repeated. MS was so intent on beating Sony to the punch they just rushed the shit out there. They know it and they ultimately paid for it.

This mistake has been made over and over again.

I think I had to send my ps1 in for repairs about 10 times before I ended up switching to PC gaming and don't get me started on the PS2 after launch.

Hell even the first nintendo is famous for having to blow dust out of the cartridge just to play the thing.

MS same thing. Rush 360 to market, offer it for 299 and 399 and laugh all the way to the bank.

Its the way of the consoles. If you don't offer a cheap one you get the PS3. The laughing stock of this gen for a good couple years because it was 499 and 599 when they first came out.
