I got the impression with as long as this game was in development that it would have come out in some capacity even if Big Huge weren't purchased by 38.

Either way, I think that it is safe to say that Schilling isn't involved in general, other than financially. Although I do kind of hope that he is a programmer with a fastball.

I wouldn't be surprised if Schilling is involved in a design perspective. The dude plays a lot of MMOs and has good taste regarding them. I could see him having some fairly substantial input, especially when it comes to creating the world of Amalur.

As for Reckoning, BHG was working on an RPG prior to the purchase by 38 Studios, but it sounds like it was in the very early stages. I wouldn't be surprised if they just had some tech demos of a game engine and combat systems that 38 was impressed with and they went from there.

Well, I finally played the demo. This turd is incredibly buggy.

Less than halfway through, all of the dialogue sped up to where I couldn't read it and the audio cut out completely. Then it froze in the middle of a battle, forcing me to start from the beginning.

Everything about the game design and art direction is really impressive and the combat is quite fluid and responsive.

However, the bugs just pissed me off. I have to replay the whole damn thing just to get this stupid gun for ME3.

The exact same thing happened to me. I just said fuck it on my second try and left my console running while I did something else during the 45 minute timer.

I never experienced that but I never played it the full time.

I agree about the combat. Whoever said the combat was bad (Jay maybe?) needs their head examined. Tell me another game with better combat. That combat was high quality.

Edit: Never mind, it was Seth. His opinion is always sketchy. He thinks Gears 3 had a great story.

But it's one thing to have differing opinion on a story. How can opinion on the combat be so polarizing?

Exactly, he failed to realize that is is indeed THE GREATEST STORY EVER IN ALL OF ENTERTAINMENT.

? I said it didn't grab me at first, and that I probably needed to give it another go. In addition, I also said that the ending video really made it look much more appealing. Hardly an extreme position.

And you're hardly one to talk about sketchy opinions.

Also, fuck you both, I still like Gears story (at least, the beginning part -- it kind of turns to shit by the end).

What's sketchy about my opinions? Granted, we are talking about opinions so an argument on the matter is quite amusing. But the only games I have strong negative opinions about are fighting games, especially Capcom ones, and JRPG's.

As for this game, I tried loading the demo back up and it started me over at the beginning. So much for auto-saving.

I just don't think you always state your opinions well. Regardless, I don't think my liking the Gears 3 story or your irrational hatred of turn-based RPGs are reason enough to call either of our opinions sketchy. :drunk:

Fair enough. I think my pesronal game hatred comes back to one similarity...Japan. When a game is Japanese as fuck I usually hate it. JRPG's, and turn based battles made famous by JRPG's, hate them. Capcom fighting games? Despise them. Mostly because I despise their business practices and how they take advantage of their faithful fans. Plus their characters are so bland and generic. Don't even get me started on their names.

I'm nit sure how that is irrational though? Saying that my hatred of turn based battles is irrational is like saying that hating baseball is irrational. Some people think baseball is boring as fuck and couldn't be less fun. I think turn based battles are boring as fuck and take me completely out of the game. Add in ridiculously long and boring conversations filled with ellipses and emo characters and you can count me the fuck out.

Whereas you have a game like Dungeon Hunter, while it may have been a small project initially made for the mobile platform, that has real time action and only small conversations, I love that shit. I love the loot. I love the action. I love playing co-op. But JRPG's are almost the complete opposite of that so they can suck my dick.
