When are we going to see a sports game where the CPU actually adapts to tendencies?

One of the biggest reasons offline sportsgaming is a waste of time is because the computer does not pay attention or adapt to what the user is doing. It's like every play takes place inside a vaccum. Playing Madden you can run HB dive 10 straight times and on the 11th play the computer might come out in nickel zone 3 or something. The only time the computer picks a play thats "correct" is when it cheats and picks off of what you picked, or gets lucky. It's not just Madden, it's every sports game out there.

It's not even just playcalling but tendencies too. If I always throw to my #1 WR or always run to the outside computer just doesn't give a shit.

It cheapens the whole experience, especially when it comes to playcalling. What's the point of me making a custom playbook when the computer is indifferent to what I'm calling? You basically have to delude yourself into believing you're having a chess match with the computer, when in reality you just end up bumping thier speed/awareness/strength/etc through sliders to make up for their dumb playcalling.

2k got the ball rolling with their VIP system and tendency tacking but that was like 10 years ago. WHen these other sports games gonna step it up. Stuff like this is the reason online franchise or online dynasty >>>>>>> offline.

I agree completely. It's a shame I never play madden online because I cannot stand EA's shitty servers and the lag.

I know this sounds crazy, but I used to feel NCAA 07 would do this. Maybe it was just comeback AI or the ridiculous HFA and momentum system but towards the end of the year I found most of my "money plays" were being keyed on, and I had to really vary up my play calling more as the season progressed.

In MVP 05 the CPU would adjust their defensive alignments. However it was only after a full season, but at least they changed based on the previous season.
