This is why I avoid this genre these days. FPS games were never my passion, I like em and all, but after a while the SP side became lame. Online competitive has been done to death if you're over 25, played too many of them to give a shit anymore.
What saves face now, is the emergence of co-op, which is always awesome. Only thing I enjoyed from series like Halo was the co-op nature of the campaign.
But this shit

Didn't like the 6 mission only co-op mention but... I'd imagine DLC is coming.
Figured the MP would be "same-y" but at this point, until some feature game either eliminates guns altogether from their multiplayer in the near future, this is all you'll hear.
And the more I see SP footage, the more I'm needing the play this game for the story.
Especially the trippy parts.
Make the whole game co-op or don't bother making co-op at all IMO.Comment

Hey, gamers! The studio that brought you Far Cry 3’s online experience is preparing something big to kick off the new year: the co-op DLC pack, High Tides, exclusively on PS3 for console gamers. This January, we’re releasing two entirely new co-op chapters, Jailbreak and Redemption. These new chapters feature the culmination of all the hard work we’ve put into the main co-op campaign. They’re truly the best of the best.
High Tides will take place where the original six co-op chapters left off. These are the gang’s final moments, and we’re really challenging ourselves to go all-out. We’ve got new missions, tougher fights, bigger competitions, some great up-close time with your favorite characters, and explosive moments unlike anything you’ve seen before. Can you tell we’re excited?
We want everyone who loves Far Cry 3’s co-op to get even more quality time with the whole gang – Leonard, Tisha, Mikhail and Callum. So pick up your copy of Far Cry 3 for PS3 today, and find out in January what happens when the gang tries to escape the island in these final chapters.
TL;DR - Starting in January, if you have a copy for the PS3, UbiSoft is releasing 2 new chapters for Co-Op.Comment

Reminds me a lot of Dead Island, but without the zombies of course. You've got a lot of your RPG elements like building your character through different ability trees, looting, crafting. It's also a FPS, and a fairly decent one at that. There's a good amount of weapons to earn and buy, plus upgrades and attachments. Also some good characters.Comment

..is what grinds my gears. They push it with marketing, but never really mention that it's some short bullshit that you'll beat in a 3 hour sitting like most games do. Then you pay for more of it.

And with all the stuff to do in he campaign, I would think it would take quite a while before you would get bored.
I started it last night and man is this game impressive. Climbing to the top of one of those towers and looking out in all directions at the expansive island is awe inspiring.Comment

Pigs are all over the area where you gain that first outpost. Got at least 3 Pig Hides there.Comment

I do wish the radar would show enemies. It seems they only show up once they are alerted to your presence. It would make a stealth approach much more feasible.Comment

Yeah, I could hear one snarling and snorting just outside that safe house building when I jacked the memory card in there.
