    [ALL] Assassin's Creed III

Couldn't locate the thread if there is another existing one...

During an earnings call today, Ubisoft revealed that Assassin's Creed III will be released in October.

According to CEO Yves Guillemot, the game will hit stores on October 30th. Guillemot revealed that the game has been in development for three years and that "what we have seen is just fabulous."

Previously, Ubisoft teased that a major Assassin's Creed title would come this year, but this is the first outright confirmation that it's AC III. The game is said to complete the story of Desmond.

While no platforms have been announced, recent Assassin's Creed games have hit Xbox 360, PS3 and PC. The game is likely headed to Wii U as well, since an Assassin's Creed game was announced for Nintendo's new system during E3.

The next Assassin's Creed is set to feature a new protagonist and switch setting to the American Revolution, a source close to the project has told CVG.

The exciting switch to the 18th century conflict will mark the series' 'biggest instalment yet', according to Ubisoft, and our insider indicates the game will be publicly showcased before the end of the company's fiscal year on March 31. The American setting was first hinted in Assassin's Creed: Brotherhood's 'Da Vinci Disappearance' DLC, which drip-fed players a set of coordinates leading to New York state, USA.

Another hint featured in the ending of latest series entry, Revelations, when a futuristic globe hovered over the US (pictured).

Perhaps the biggest indication though came late last year, when a Ubisoft survey asked fans where they'd like to see Assassin's Creed go next. The options included, "The confrontation between British colonists and native Americans during The American Revolution."

The setting of course opens up all kinds of historical crossover possibilities for the series, including encounters with George Washington, who according to Assassin's Creed lore is in possession of an Apple of Eden.

Well, this is interesting. A Best Buy worker just emailed us two images snapped from their employee news section. One shows that Ubisoft will be unveiling Assassin's Creed III on March 5, and that there'll be pre-order bonuses to be had. Whatever.

So do I......I wonder how completing the Desmond story arc will go, and how it will impact future AC games. Also, the fact that they've developed this game over three years is no small feat, considering two other games have come out in the same series. I was wondering why Ubisoft had three studios and well over 200 people working on it, now we know why.

I will say this, after playing the first game in 2007, in no way shape or form did I ever expect this to become my favorite series, nor become a flagship title for Ubisoft. Fantastic work by them.

My roommate has both Brotherhood + Revelations so I'll be sure to play through them both the week before III drops.

I'd give yourself a little more time. Brotherhood took me almost two weeks to beat.

The next Assassin's Creed is going to be revealed in an issue of Game Informer, and some artwork has been leaked...

And then a banner for the new article was also put up on the GI site, by mistake...

I really hope the story is longer than the last game.

I rented every game up till the last one and its the only game outside of sports game I play on a console and I'm hooked.

Kinda wierd but I play the MP off and on and while its pretty fun and entertaining for an hour its better when you play with friends that have it but thats pretty rare since no one I know really plays it online.

                          Leafs offseason training!

This is a series I need to sit down and finish. I've played the first 3 games but never got around to finishing them. Definitely going to do that pre-3 release.

Awesome. Going to be cool walking around Ubisoft's version of Colonial America and hopefully interacting with major historical figures.

I'm expecting two awesome missions based around Paul Revere's Ride and Washington's Crossing of the Delaware. How could I forget the Boston Tea Party, that'd be crazy too.
