If you can stomach retail emulation, go buy "Sonic's Ultimate Genesis Collection."

Every Sonic up through 3D Blast and Spinball (underrated IMO), all the Streets of Rage games, Altered Beast, Comix Zone and more on one disc.

It's got all the Phantasy Stars through IV if you dig RPGs as well.

And if you can stomach jrpgs, Chrono Trigger gets nothing but good reviews. Usually heralded as the best jrpg ever made, with 10+ endings. Would recommend it to anybody. There's a DS version out there that's true to the game, and an almost exact port of the game.
