Developers are full of shit and could have killed GS ages ago. So fuck them and there riding of both sides of the fence.

Fuck Verizon/Comcast/TW and every other ISP for holding back the U.S broadband expansion and trying to control traffic for there disgusting self serving needs. This would be a non issue if they werent trying to nickle and dime the consumers and control media content.

Fuck the U.S Govt for continuing to castrating competition in broadband and internet access.

Fuck Microsoft for STILL HAVING A SYSTEM THAT OVERHEATS.

      KOF channeling his inner Twigg.

I agree with everything you said except while I somewhat agree with fuck developers, I'd say what you described is much more fuck publishers. Publishers are a necessary evil for some developers, and them sucking is part of why indie games are really getting huge.

I have over 72 games on steam, 38 of them are installed and ready to play. I love this system.

How do you trade in games on Amazon? Oh you mean to sell them on amazon.

It really is the best. And it stands as a shining example of how digital only can work for games. Does that mean everyone will do it that way? No, it doesn't. But the fact that Steam is really the ONLY one that does it and they aren't greedy about it is refreshing and awesome.

I dont owna kindle so maybe someone can clear my details up..

But IF they so felt like it MS can corner the used or borrow market easily as well. Libraries and Amazon both have borrow systems. I can lend an E book to a friend for two weeks and I wont be able to read it until it expires. I would imagine it would be very simple for me to "lend" my digital right to Sethmode for a few days. Or sell it to MS for 400 points then sell it to Seth for 800 points.

Im sure only having 10-14 hour campaigns screws with the lend idea though.

I have a Kindle...the borrow feature is...okay. I was more excited about it in theory but you can only borrow from a certain list and it's only 1 book a month. Now, I don't have any friends that have a Kindle, so perhaps you can lend or trade more if you do it with a another person directly. Either way, it's a good idea that I think we'll eventually get to. I think digital renting will get to video games as well. It's already how I watch 99% of the movies I pay for. I think the only problem with it at this point is Hard Drive hang-ups and download times, both problems I don't see being problems for much longer.

Yeah, brand new games are on Steam mirror what the hard copy prices are - usually $60-$50. EA didn't start charging less when they took the booklets out of games. Some of you guys are too optimistic.

That's a very narrowminded approach. There are games that wouldn't exist if it weren't for Steam. Digital only is more than just "Dude, the new games are still $60!" The internet and digital only has allowed for the indie boom, and those games are a variety of prices, none fixed, and none $60. It is very reasonable to be optimistic just based on this fact alone.

Can't recall the last time I used Gamestop to purchase anything video game related.

                        Used games -> Interwebz
New shit -> Best Buy (rewards FTW) or Amazon (cheapness FTW).

However, I don't like the idea of an all digital platform either.

Great as an OPTION but as a platform...no bueno.

Yes good as an option. Give the consumer an option and let them decide. What a concept.

Just like you'll always have the option to buy or not buy. If this turns out to be as gross as your doom and gloom outlook thinks it will, just buy a different system. Options! You'll always have Nintendo, because I'm not sure they know what the Internet is.

I certainly wouldn't label you "realistic" on this subject.

Steam has driven the price of games down quite a bit, at least when sales come around.
