Pretty much confirmed now that the weeklong deals end Thursday instead of next Monday.

Steam Summer Sale has begun. As always, if it's not a flash sale or daily deal, don't buy it until the next-to-last day of the sale.

If you plan on crafting some badges, make sure you have at least three games on your wishlist. Even though it's a small chance of winning, Valve is giving 30 people who are participating in their summer event three games from their wishlist each day of the sale. More details at Steam.

The Steam Autumn Sale is on now — find great deals on thousands of games! Plus nominate games for the 2024 Steam Awards.

EDITED the bold since it's been pointed out on other sites that the discounts disappeared for every game that wasn't part of the encore sale on the last day during the winter event.

Wait, I'm clueless here, what is the benefit of buying the last day of the sale? Just that it may come up as a flash sale at some point for less or is it a badge thing?

I randomly caught a stream of Democracy 3 the other week, and it looked pretty cool.

                Anyone have it?

Looks like I'm going to pick up The Witcher 2 today. I only have it for 360 and I'd like to play through the series again before 3 drops next winter.

Just to make sure you get the best deal from Steam. The benefit might not be a whole lot depending on what the base discount is, but if you plan on buying a lot of games, that couple of dollars here and there can add up. There have also been a few instances where games and DLC that were daily/flash deals had better discounts in the last day or two like the BioShock Infinite season pass during the winter sale and Saints Row: The Third a couple of years ago.

Just in case people missed the edit to my last post: it's been pointed out on other sites that the discounts disappeared for every game that wasn't part of the encore sale on the last day during the winter event. So assuming there will be another encore sale on the last day, buy any game that wasn't a daily/flash deal on the next-to-last day.

Just bought The Witcher, The Witcher 2 and Torchlight 2 for under $11. Nice.

Holy shit. The tokens to change to the purple team are selling for $30 on the Steam Market. If I manage to get one, that sucker is getting listed immediately.

The other team ones are ~$10 btw, and none of the point steal/boost tokens are currently less than $5.

Good thing the points reset every day, how the hell did Purple get so far ahead.

I very much skimmed the rules last night to all of this, and clearly don't know what's going on because this read like a foreign language to me.
