SWTOR eventually went with FTP options with micro transactions, and as a subscriber you get currency for the microtransactions.

I think a balance between the two, with free and subscriber packages would be key. You can attract both the hardcore and standard gamer crowd. I never played it, but Guild Wars 2 was a FTP game I believe.

$60 game with not monthly subs.

So it's essentially like purchasing Battlefield or COD, or am I missing something? Did they have a slew of microtransactions that gave everyone an edge if they used them?

I would be more than willing to plunk down the $60 OR do a monthly subscription. But there's no way I'm forking over $75 at launch and $15 more every month after.

as far as I know it was just a $60 game. I am not sure if MT existed in Guild Wars 2. I think there is a plan for an Expansion/DLC .

Gotcha. They can also add them at any time they wanted like SWTOR did.

It's an acquired taste. I like SWTOR because I'm a Star Wars fan, and I'm willing to give Elder Scrolls a shot. But I know you played some and gave it a chance.

guild wars 2 was actually pretty good. i always think about getting back into it, but never do. star wars could have been epic. they just bore me and lack the leveling ability to create a player the way you want. i like putting my points into my guy the way i want...this preset point distro and then buffs with gear thing bugs the shit out of me. leveling up and building the player is what makes these games for me.

skrim was great and if this was like guild wars where you pay your 60 bucks and dont have the monthly fee i would be all over it
