this is more of a relaunch than a straight up DLC.

D3 came out 2 years ago and sold 7 million copies in the first week. then over the next 2 years was able to sell another 8 million copies. That means it took them 2 years to match what they sold in the 1st week. which says everyone who bought it did so based on hype and reputations.

out of the 15 million copies they sold, only 2.7 million still cared enough to buy the expansion. This is after they had to totally revamp their systems just to convince people to come back and try it again.

i dont know what blizzards expectations are, but i think they have quietly conceded the fact that they screwed up and i give them credit for fixing their mistake and making the game enjoyable. But when you look at 2.7 and see a very good number, you have to consider the other 5 million or more they could have gotten....companies dont look at it like i made 2.7, they look at it like i lost 5 million

I think that you're pretty spot on with most of this, but I do think that Blizzard was happy with getting almost 3 million after the reception that D3 received. And I would still call it an expansion rather than a relaunch. It still requires the original game to play, after all.

Unrelated: we have been on opposite sides of everything lately.

i love good debate! thats whats so nice about talking with you. we dont always agree but i still respect and appreciate your opinion.

its funny because i thought that the original D3 game was free now and that ROS was the only thing you had to buy. i wonder how much of that 2.7 is people who also just bought D3 and how many is people who already owned D3.

see they wont ever say 2.7 is bad. They want everyone to see that as a huge success...and by rights it it. but this isnt some random indie game that hit those numbers. i think the potential earnings they could have gotten is a lot higher.

still, i think the changes they made are awesome. i beat the game and i still chose to play it again which is rare for me. they just have to find a way to get people to try it again with the new systems. They gotta be kicking themselves for not releasing the game originally like the 2.0 patch.

plus, Torchlight 2 is essentially the same game and pretty dam good and includes mods and a lower price. plus now they have to compete against path of exile being nearly identical and in some ways better than D3...not to mention, its a totally free game....thats tough sledding right there. If i had the choice today to pay for D3 or play POE for free there is no doubt i would choose POE.

I promise you really won't spend a lot of time crafting amulets or rings. Archon amulet and hellfire ring is all you'll craft. I'll run you through some things if you're on later. Answer all your questions.

anyone else here besides KNUBB play ROS? im usually on early morning.

i've surprisingly had good luck doing normal bounty runs. 30 minutes tops to get 5 caches and i usually get 1 or 2 legendarys per run. rifts can be hit or miss. some can be fun and some can be a pain the ass.

edit - ive seen bluntside on a lot but i tend to miss him or hes playing private

im finished with the game. between torchlight 2, path of exhil and D3, i am kind of worn out on these dungeon crawler type games.
