I don't see that ever happening either but they need a better incentive than this. You know it's going to have a season pass because this is M$ we're talking about (their last two big releases had them; Halo 4 and Forza Horizon) and I don't think this game is going to sell anywhere near their expectations. Besides it being an offshoot it's being developed by PCF, not Epic proper.

people dont know its an off shoot. They see new gears of war game.........buy! IMO it wont sell as much as 2 or 3 because it doesnt have a number next to it.

I was going to add that in my post but I figured that was self explanatory. Of course all the dude bro's will still pick it up because it's a Gears game but there is still a large percentage of Xbox gamers that are also avid Kotaku and Joystiq members that know this game isn't coming from the same team.

I'm actually curious to see how it sells.

it will be hard to resist....I enjoyed each game they released. One of the few games/series I have that I have not sold. I think this game will be good....solid 8.5

Give away the season pass? That wouldn't make any sense lol.

The game isn't even out and you're giving it an 8.5?

That sounds like all the undeserving Halo 4 scoring mentality.

Going back to the whole dude bro thing, the ones that are going to buy it just based on the name, why do they care about getting Gear 1 for free? They already have/had it and played it to death. Then there are the big fan of the series like you and I that still own the game in all probability. Just a strange and pointless "bonus".

Just with pre-order or early adopters. I don't think it's going to happen but it's not like it's a proposterous idea. Activision did it with Prototype 2 and M$ did it, in a sense, with Halo 4. You had to buy the limited edition for like $20 more but you got the season pass and a bunch of other crap.

Depending on how their pre-orders are looking they might need to entice people with something more. They obviously feel that they need to do something if they are trying to give away the first game for free.

Seems like you are bitching just to bitch. It's a free game. Most games come with nothing but a free skin for so and so gun or something. Nothing wrong with this.

No, I'm just saying they need to entice someone like me with something more than that if they want me to drop $60 on this game. Gaming is an expensive hobby. Publishers are looking for more and more creative ways to get people to plunk down $60 for their games day one and not wait for a sale or buy them used. As much of a Gears fan that I am I'm not getting it day one. I'm waiting for a sale.

                        It is a prediction....tis all.

The whole point of a season pass is you pay a discounted price for DLC. IF they give out millions of season passes then they are essentially giving away free DLC. this does not equal "Profit Deal" (Pachter)

Yes, make a Collectors edition that is $99.99 and include the Season pass instead of some dumb plastic helmet. Therefore you are getting a discount price on the season pass and the developers are getting some money for it. It will also help there 1st week gross sales figures.

its a smart idea. There are still plenty of people that have not played gears 1. If they decide to try it out it may translate into people buying Gears 2 or 3.

Hardcore gamers like you are going to buy the game either way...either at launch of a few weeks later.

Or even a discount of the season pass. Say, you pre-order the game and you get the season pass for half off or something. I think that would entice more sales than Gears 1.

agreed...IMO this whole season pass thing is BS anyway. I would rather pick and choose what I want to buy. Say in 3 months I totally dont care about playing Gears anymore?

I wish people would stop paying for these season passes.
