Is this comment on Kotaku true?

If everything I've been reading about Judgement holds true, it would seem that People Can Fly & Epic seems hell bent on taking stuff away, rather than introducing new things for the price of $60.

Here are a few things, for those who don't know: No more "down-but-not-out"; no more executions (lancer chainsaw and retro charge might be in there still); on Team Deathmatch, there will be no Locusts team, only Cog vs. Cog; Team Deathmatch will end once the points cap has been reached so each player will have unlimited spawns; no more last man out; no more active reloads; Horde might be gone (unconfirmed) and more things that I won't go into because of length.

I'm sure there are plenty of non hardcore gamers who got in on the series at 2 or 3 and didn't bother to play the first game. I'm sure there's plenty of people who have sold the game by now as well. By giving the first game away for free, these people can play through the prequel and then they have the option to jump on to that next part of the story for either the first time or again now that they have the game again. There's nothing wrong with this bonus. Just b/c you still have the first game and don't care doesn't mean everyone in the world feels that way, especially when most games don't give shit away at all. It's just funny, b/c I remember when it was announced that the PS3 version of BioShock Infinite was coming with free copies of BioShock 1, you thought that was amazing. Pretty sure the companies goal isn't "how can we get Twigg to buy our game on day 1." Like I said, most games don't give away a damn thing, and this is Gears of War. It may not be Gears of War 4 by Epic Games, but it's not some crap like the games that Jay buys either that it needs all these crazy deals to get it to sell any copies at all.

I don't know if I believe all of that. But even if it is true, they aren't really taking anything away, considering this is a completely different game not in the same vein as the first three. It's still a day one purchase for me at this point

I have no idea but IGN says

Really, the only way Gears of War Judgment is the same as previous games – core mechanics aside – is in the way its cast interacts.
it may be totally different...in a bad or good way.

All of that stuff was for multiplayer, so that affects me 0%.

I was actually wondering how long it was going to take someone to bring up Bioshock. I never said it was awesome. I think it's pretty dumb too. But at least with Bioshock you're talking about a third party game so you will have people like me that probably played it on 360 already, as it release over a year before the PS3 version, and wouldn't mind playing through the original again with the addition of slightly better graphics and trophies.

But considering Judgment is a prequel it does make a little more sense but it still seems to me that there is a very small portion of the gaming and Gears fanbase that hasn't played the first game. I love how MS said that their research showed that a large portion of Gears 3 players never played the first game. Wow, do you think that could have anything to do with the fact that Gears 1 came out in 2006 and there were a lot more people with consoles NOT hooked up to Live and the internet so there was no way to track them?

I also LOL that M$ is still charging $20 for Gears 1 on Live.

Yeah but once that person plugged their console in and hooked it up to Live, those achievements for Gears 1 became trackable.

That is true. But is that the data they use when saying someone has "played" a game? I thought they used something else like having to actually being shown "in game" for a certain period of time.

w0w...so they incorporated the Boom shield glitch....fukin awesome..

seems like more of the same, which is a good thing..

not sure what Twigg is PMSing about... yeah a Free season pass would be a fantastic pre-order incentive

just like having Judgement being $15 on day 1 would a fantastic pre-order incentive

but we all know it's not happening

Cant someone just look at games sales and know that a game that sold 4 million probably had more people playing it then the one that sold 2 ?
Also what game doesnt have campaign achievements ?

Also if theres no executions how come theres a sniper execution in the above video ? I know DBNO is gone but not sure about the rest. They better add some new mechanic or something to make up for it. GOW has traditionally added something pretty significant or with every iteration.
Cover system/executions > Stopping power , meat-shield , nade tagging > Cover jump kicking ,Tag and push.
Best reason to have a license.

Is Twigg really complaining about a free game, especially a free game provided by a MS exclusive?

No, he is simply stating it isn't incentive to him or anyone else that already has GOW.

Pre-order Gears of War: Judgment at Walmart, get Gears 2 or 3 for free

Those who purchase Gears of War: Judgment will score a copy of the original Gears of War gratis, this much we know; however, Walmart is further sweetening the deal for those who pre-order through the retailer by offering Gears of War 2 or Gears of War 3 free as well.

If you're on the fence, a public demo of the new OverRun mode will be made available to Xbox Live Gold subscribers on March 19, but that just so happens to also be the launch date for Gears of War: Judgment – so that won't be much help for your decision. If you want to score the additional two free games and included Classic Hammerburst skin from Walmart, you're going to have to pre-order before then.
