Really all they have left are the Arcade games, exclusives-wise, and that's if you don't count also being on the PC as exclusive (personally I don't count that because I think PC gaming is different).

I don't find exclusives to be that important to myself, as I've said before, since I usually own all the consoles in a generation. But in terms of exclusive and NEW IP, Sony just peckerslaps MS.

The video they showed make the game look like it's all about major and minor set pieces. Shoot the lamp there, burn a few bad buys, shoot the barrels here, watch them roll down a hill and kill another bad buy. It looked great though.
I don't mind planning out DLC. It lets you prepare your wallet for stuff you want, and it creates anticipation. It's when they put "major" DLC on the disc and won't allow you to access it until a few months down the line that I get irked.

I know he created Populous and Theme Park and those games were supposedly super innovative on the PC in their day. But the last 15 years? I know Fable 1 didn't live up anywhere near to his loft promises. Fable 2 was fun but nothing major. Fable 3 was a gigantic disappointment filed with bugs.

So why is this guy so revered in the industry?
I don't know if most overrated, because I think he's always been more of an idea man than actual designer (as can be easily indicated by how Fable came nowhere close to living up to the hype), but he definitely is riding on his past successes. Even Black and White, while a big deal, was a fucking attrocious game when you really got down to it (I think they may have patched it to make it better later, but the creature training was DOGSHIT when it first dropped....I got it day 1 and after being amazed for about 2 hours started to discover what a pile of crap it was). Populous and Magic Carpet (my favorite of his, personally) were ingenious though, but you're right, that was a LONG time ago (I had Magic Carpet on my Compaq desktop in middle school haha).

I think a lot of the good will for him is how upbeat and positive he is about basically everything. It seems infectious.

They are living off Halo, Gears, Forza, Kinect, and arcade games (exclusive wise).

And of those (since I'm not a racing fan) Gears is the only disc-based game I would say I have loved (although I'm not that excited for Judgement, despite being a huge fan of Painkiller).

MS doesn't really need a ton of exclusive games....it is hard to get developers to do it and it is expensive for M$ or Sony. When most peeps buy FIFA, COD, Battlefield, Madden ect for your system there is less need to grab exclusives.

Obviously. That wasn't really the point though. I've said from the beginning that for me, exclusives are stupid and often just the fuel for internet arguments and trolling. Doesn't change the fact that Sony is more willing to throw their name behind new, exclusive IP.

They aren't important for guys like you and I, because we do own all of the consoles. But I would think as far as gaming goes we are in the minority. Most people own one or the other, and probably a Wii as well. That's why it baffles me when people say "I only have a 360 because they have all the exclusives." WTF are you talking about? But I guess that's the audience they are catering to anyway.

Just got home and started to watch this.

Kinect blah blah blah is about all I'm getting out of it.

                      Leafs offseason training!

                          With internet explorer!

Hey look I can get NHL Gamecenter on my xbox now too. How exciting even though my Smart TV, PS3, WD TV Tuner ect ect could all do this years before lulz.

I get they are trying to market this thing as some huge entertainment system but they have up to this point shown maybe 10mins of gaming and spent the rest of the time marketing their entertainment features.

                              Me when Usher came on:

I don't know where the marketing people at Microsoft got their degrees, but I feel like throwing a music artist that appeals to teens and young adults on a stage in front of 40-50 year old gaming nerds was not the smartest decision they've ever made.

The only thing that remotely interested me was Tomb Raider, Splinter Cell, and South Park. The CoD demo looked fun, but as someone else said, I feel that it's just gonna be a one or two day rental from Red Box for me.

She's not supposed to be the badass like the old games. This game is about the beginning and how she came to be what we know her as.
