Come on...how many things has EA overlooked in the past. :ohwell:

But that is a good idea. I've never been into computer games, so I had no idea about that.

At midnight on release day, you just play. You don't have to line up at some stupid ass store with a bunch of geeks and feel like an asshole. You don't have to deal with a snot nosed emo fuck who doesn't even know what Madden is and takes 15 minutes to cash you out when you buy it.

And for lard pigs like twigg, you don't ever have to put in a disc!

It will get fucked up somehow.

And that isn't even my big concern. If I want to play a game a couple months or a year later and I've already deleted it, I have to install it again and wait. I started gaming on the N64, and I've kept every game I've bought since then. I prefer to physically own my games.

So still buy it? It'll still be in stores for a couple more years at least...but in the end you'll have to adapt. The future is digital, game packaging is a foolish waste of crap.

Buy a bigger hard drive and that'll be that.

So I have to spend the same amount of money for a digital game, and then pay for extra storage :arrieta:

            Makes sense.

and maybe it will help more developers to stay in business by cutting out the middleman. I mean nowadays you need to sell a gazillion copies for these developers to break even. I will miss some of the crazy sales but I bet you there will still be sales.

Perhaps, but I have a hard time believing that they'd lower their base prices based on their PC game prices. They are one of the few publishers that consistently go with the $60 price tag at launch.

EA already allows pre-loads on the PC side through Origin. However, it might not be entirely in their hands on the consoles given that Mass Effect 3 could be pre-ordered on PSN, but Sony didn't allow anyone to download it until midnight on release day.

please....how many games will you buy? You don't have to keep every game you own downloaded....lulz.

You can buy a 1TB external for $100.

I know that point, but then I have to wait for it to download, whereas now I can just pop the disc in and go. And $100 is no big deal, but like waiting for a download to happen, an irritant.

That is all this is, an irritant. Though I do recognize that some studios could be helped by this and I didn't think about that. That is about the only good point from my perspective (and a damn good one.)

i think it is a pretty simple business model.....if the games arent selling then they have sales and lower the price. Steam does it, PSN, XBOX Live, Origins has been having crazy sales.

I wouldn't be too sure about that (at least, I wouldn't expect crazy sales often). EA execs have gone on record saying that Steam-like sales devalue their product.

I'd like to see a comparison of those game prices against Steam's when the Summer Sale starts. I can almost guarantee that Bad Company 2, both Dead Space games, and Medal of Honor will be at the $5 mark. A five or six dollar difference may not seem like much, but that difference will allow you to get two games on Steam for the price of one on Origin.

i agree Steam sales are out of this world and I dont think anyone will compete with that. All I know is that I will pay for the convenience of it. To not have to worry about, retail stores, shipping, pre order bonuses, online passes, ect.

I would love to turn my xbox on and all my games are accessible via a click of a button.

I think Amazon and GameFly have been doing great with PC digital sales lately. Heck, Amazon had a Dragon Age bundle for $10 last week.
