Pro Evolution Soccer 2013 Demo Available Now for Xbox 360 and PC, Hits PS3 on July 31

Konami has released the Pro Evolution Soccer 2013 demo which can now be downloaded for the Xbox 360 and PC for free. PSN account holders will have to wait until July 31 to get to jump into the latest title from the acclaimed PES series. A new trailer featuring Cristiano Ronaldo has also been released by Konami to showcase the Freedom and Freestyle aspects of the upcoming title.

The first playable demo of PES 2013 enables gamers to have a look at some key aspects of the title, and features a total of eight fully licensed teams. These include international biggies like Germany, England, Portugal and Italy as well as teams from the Copa Libertadores league, such as Santos FC, SC International, Fluminense and Flamengo. Localized languages as well as different difficulty settings also form part of the demo.

Announced for the first time in April this year, PES 2013 is all set to debut on multiple platforms including the PS2, 3DS, PSP and Wii in the fall of this year. Konami has revealed that this time around, the game is being developed with an emphasis on individual skills of the world’s best players. The three fresh additions that will make their way into the title’s PES FullControl feature comprise Total Freedom of Control, Dynamic First Touch and Full Manual Shooting and Full Manual Passing.

The Pro Evolution Soccer 2013 demo is now available for download through Xbox Live and www.konami-pes2013.com for the respective platforms. Its PSN version will be seen coming out on July 31, 2012.

I just can't get into it. The player models, and presentation is light years ahead of FIFA, but gameplay is terrible. Still only can move in 8 directions.

Back in the day Pro Evo Soccer (Winning 11) shat on Fifa but the last few years Fifa has stepped up their game and made a better product. Fifa is what Madden should have been but Madden has sucked major dick over the last 6 or so years.

Can't wait to get my hands on this demo. The reaction has been mostly good so far.

Based on the demos from PES12 and PES13, this game has taken a huge leap forward in player control. The game feels much more "organic" than FIFA. Last year, the demo for PES12 was kinda meh and I didn't feel it warranted a purchase unless I could have it for less than $20. FIFA12 was the easy winner last year. Based on the PES13 demo, I think this game is going to be worth a buy at $60. FIFA13 has a lot of changes and it's looking like it's worth a $60 purchase as well. I might even upgrade from Football Manager 11 to 13 this year too. I'm going to be all soccered out by the time the calendar flips.

I really am loving this demo so far. I've played about 5 or 6 games with different teams today and got a good feel for it, I think.

              Good stuff

              * I love the first touch mechanics. It really separates good ball control midfielders from the clunky beast like CBs and Strikers.

              * Your teammates' attacking AI is great. I never feel like I'm limited in the ways that I will score. Your teammates make runs when they should and the through balls can be pretty sweet. Crosses will find their way to your forwards a fair amount of times and the headers from sharply crossed balls have nice velocity on them. Scoring from distance isn't out of question so let if fly if you've got some space in front of the box. Your teammates will hang around in the box and look for loose balls, too.

              * You'll notice the CPU adjust their tactics mid-match. The CPU AI will press early when behind a goal and lay back if they have the lead. The CPU will also move players around into better positions after subbing which is a nice touch.

              * Ping-pong passing feels very nice. Once you get used to the touch of passing, it feels very real.

              * The pre-match cut scenes look great. I like the way the players look in cut scenes in general but that's not really a huge deal to me if they didn't look good either. Love the detail on the Santos kits.

              * Fouls seem fair and realistic.

              Bad Stuff

              * The replays look choppy most of the time.

              * I hate the defender's animation where he runs up behind your man with the ball, jostles you a little bit, and your player stumbles and kicks the ball forward. The result of this animation/tactic needs to be more dynamic.

              * The player rating system absolutely needs to be more dynamic. It scores in increments of 0.5 so there's no 7.1 or 7.2 for instance. It's 7.0 or 7.5.

All in all, the more I play it, the more I like it. I've never owned a PES before and last year's demo didn't impress me like this one. I will probably pick this game up at or around release day. I can't wait to see what manager mode is all about in this game because I've heard it is superior to FIFA.

Oh and goalie AI is pretty solid too. I definitely want to mention that. I haven't found the automatic cheese ways to score yet but the keeper AI seems pretty fluid and will adjust to how you are attacking them.

I cannot stress enough how if you like Footy, you must try this game. The game obviously does not hve all the bells and whistles that FIFA does.

But it does look decent as far as graphics. Master League has sadly shitted on MM from FIFA every other year. And this gameplay is amazing.

Please, im not asking you to switch from FIFA, but at the very least.....give it a try.

I just can't get into this game anymore. I didn't touch FIFA a few years ago, since then, I don't even touch this. I always loved the presentation of this game, and thought it destroyed FIFA, but I hate Master League.

*thanked purely to counter PP's dumb groan*

I'll give it a try, I bought PES 09 and enjoyed it. As a franchise dude, their customization is unrivaled bar none.
