Dale Earnhardt Jr. wins the 'Drive for the Cover' on NASCAR: Inside Line

Activision has announced that Dale Earnhardt, Jr will be the cover athlete for the upcoming NASCAR: The Game Inside Line game. Not a big shock considering he is the most popular driver in the sport. A new gameplay video was also released with the announcement. This will be the 2nd NASCAR game from Activision after taking over development from EA Sports.

Dale Earnhardt Jr. wins the 'Drive for the Cover'
NASCAR fans have spoken, and nine-time most popular driver, Dale Earnhardt Jr., defeated Kasey Kahne by a narrow margin in the final round of voting in the 'Drive for the Cover' campaign. Earnhardt, who earned more total votes than any other driver, will adorn the cover of the upcoming NASCAR The Game: Inside Line video game.

"I can't thank my fans enough for their continued support throughout the 'Drive for the Cover' campaign and the opportunity to represent JR Nation on the cover of NASCAR The Game: Inside Line," said Dale Earnhardt Jr., driver of the No. 88 Diet Mountain Dew/National Guard Chevrolet Impala. "An added benefit of being featured on the cover is the opportunity for all of my sponsors, especially National Guard, to reach more than a million NASCAR fans of all ages through this exciting new video game."

"We are excited for Dale Earnhardt Jr. to be featured on the cover of the new NASCAR The Game: Inside Line" said Blake Davidson, Vice President of Licensing & Consumer Products at NASCAR. "For a campaign that was driven entirely through driver, team and sponsor social media channels, the more than 750,000 votes cast in the 'Drive for the Cover' are a testament to the social media prowess of our industry and fans."

I am interested in doing a NASCAR league here on VSN. If no one wants to step up and do one, I'll volunteer.

It's been way too long since we had a good console NASCAR game, and this one is looking pretty sweet.

I'd be down for being a part of it, but with running the Formula One league and co-running the Forza league it'd be a bit much for me. I'm all game for being a part of it though.

I got the NASCAR game a few years ago and ended up playing a lot with my roommates lol its pretty fun...the online play was terrible back then tho it was unplayable due to lagging/glitching. I may be interested in that league though if the game is good and online isn't shitty

If the game is good and online is smooth I'd be interested as well.

Good to see a handful of you are interested. The game supports 16 players online, but we could do it with less than that. I will keep you all updated.

I'd be open to helping you out with the initial setup of the league if need be.

I'll get someone to let you view the Planning sub-forum in the Apex area so you can start shooting some ideas and whatnot.

He might not win a lot of races but he is consistently up front. He's currently 3rd in the standings with only 22 points separating him and the points leader...

                        Greg Biffle - 823
                        Matt Kenseth - 803
                        Dale Earnhardt, Jr - 801

Pretty sure he finished 7th last year. Not great but there are about 40 other drivers that would trade places with him.
