geez...2 people wrote that. its good, but pretty short considering it was done by 2 people.
i am so on the fence with this game. i enjoyed the demo, but always get burned by the games bugs that we dont see for another week or 2. Im not much of an online gamer these days either, but that connect career thing seems really cool for an online league. When i am this undecided i usually end up buying and regretting
I think they look at all aspects, including gameplay, just as anyone else would. The only difference is they do it from a casual perspective. The rest of your post just seems like the standards for videogames have dropped and people are accepting that. Which is fine, they're only games and 24 hours on a single game is a lot. Still, there should be some interest there to potentially have a lifespan longer than 24 hours, if a game gets boring after that period (for MP games) then it's a bad game. Shit I'm still playing games from 1999 online (UT), still playing APF, and played NBA 2k8 all the way up to around 2010-2011. I don't even want to know how many hours I have on those games.
I do not think it has anything to do with lower standards. I think standards have been raised to a point that we aren't satisfied with the same caliber of game we used to play.
Lets look at the "hey-day" of EA football (roughly 2003-2007). I played those games endlessly. I also did not have a ton of other options. I don't like RPGs. I played a little HALO, but it wasn't my thing (Xbox, so no Socom). Basketball games were mediocre (CH2k8 is still the standard... that did not come out until 2007). Hockey games were a joke. Baseball games were hit or miss...mostly miss.
Right now I have The Show, which I still play pretty frequently. You have Call of Duty/Battlefield (pick your preference). I also play a little Fifa and a little NHL.
I just have a lot more choices then I did before, so I'm not going to play-through an imperfect game because it's my best option.
Now, the 2009-10 versions of EA football were atrocious. Those were the years with the game-killer glitches, the no-pass rush year and the year the game was on hyper-speed. That was also before they fixed the run blocking and added the option reads to the game. That stuff was fixed up (not perfect, but better) and the games we have now are quality, but they are not the best options available to us anymore.
I wanted to. I asked a bunch of times. Wasn't my call. I used to write reviews on a small site years ago, they were liked.
What I like is that you didn't pull any punches. In just your quick synopsis, you gave the positives, but also gave the negatives. You didn't overlook the missing features. It was a very fair quick synopsis. The game may work well for your online leagues, but you also recognized the games failings. As much as I dislike many of the decisions EA/Tib has made with this Madden, I agree with your positives. My opinion, you would have given a much more objective review. To bad they didn't let you.
I had 6 sacks vs TimsGiants. Im pretty satisfied but I always play coverage with my LB's. Just let the dominant CPU raiders dline manhandle you bitches.
I only played one half with the Dolphins against the Cowboys. I controlled Dansby the entire half, so I had no user-sacks, but, Odrick did have 2 sacks in the first half against a clearly overmatched Doug Free.

I think it's the best Madden ever even though it still has some warps. I'm playing the game on Slow Speed with slider adjustments (All-Madden) and it's been really good so far.
I'm not a big fan of the lack of ability to edit players....and hate that they took away the regular franchise mode where could play any game on the schedule outside of your own. I like to play a single player franchise where i can also play CPU matchups that involve the best games on the schedule.
Overall, I'd say EA is headed in the right direction just wish they would bring everything that made Madden 12 fun for me last year as a offline player.

One of the worst RT's ive ever had in any Madden game.

Madden's heyday imo was pre-2000, 03-07 is an interesting period to pick given how terrible and slow their transition into next gen was and their current gen felt dated compared to the 2k series. All opinion though, but Madden is the only option for football games so I still think it absolutely needs to have a longer lifespan than 24 hours. There being games in other genres doesn't really justify anything, especially for those who only play sports on console, unless you're saying that you would play Madden for much longer if it wasn't for other interests. Given the examples mentioned gaming as a whole used to be a lot more in-depth and challenging than the typical games today. CoD and BF are both extremely easy to play and arcadey, definitely a far cry from the likes of the original Delta Force or some of the first titles in the Rainbow Six series.
Played a game (all pro, exhibition). Some of the animations look like garbage, but overall, a fun game.
Some of the late game CPU playcalling was atrocious though. For example, CPU is down 3 with under 10 seconds left, clock stopped. From about their own 30, they call a run and the game ends on a tackle. lol
Played with the Colts so the run game was shit, hopefully it's just that team and their shitty RB stable. Playing defense, Cutler took way too long and ended up getting sacked about 4-5 times.

The only thing that pisses me off about the legends is that EA is basically forcing me to play MUT to get the cards to use in CC. I don't want to play MUT, I have no interest in it, but, I am forced to play it if I want to use Vince Lombardi and other coaching legends. Fucking bullshit.
