Played week 1 of my Cowboys CC early this morning. Won 38-16. Romo went 18-24, 241 yds, 3 TD, 0 INT. I was pretty happy with the game overall. Giants had 343 yds of total offense, where I had 367...so it was pretty even. I just had a difference thanks for some sacks and timely fumble in the first half.

I still have one roster spot open due to the season-ending injury to Marcus Spears (Complete MCL tear). Looking right now at Chiefs DE Ropati Pitoitua. He's got great ratings in strength, block shed and play recognition. I think he could work in a rotation with Jason Hatcher and Clifton Geathers.

I think consistency applies to both in game and multiple games. Imagine he's more prone to cold streaks via the fluctuating ratings mechanic in the game, so that's what you face with being 0 stars. Accuracy will sail on you being poor, but if you pick safer spots when you throw and user catch well you can survive.

      Your preference I would say.

Man I have found a fucking GEM.

So the season ends and once again I am sitting at 9-7 with a decent draft spot. I go through the draft and land some pretty good players. There was one thing I was missing, that I Love to have, and that is a brute force running back. So I dive into the "Undrafted Free Agent pool" and scope out some power house dudes. I end up signing 3 guys that seemed pretty promising. My boy Javarris James from the U, a 6'1" 225 pound rookie and a 54 OVR RB that I figured would make a decent FB. Well the pre-season starts and Reggie Bush and Joe McKnight go down with injuries in the first game. I started James in the 2nd game and he did alright against first string defenses. Next up was the 225 RB. He did below average in the 3rd game. In the 4th game, I started my 54 OVR RB just for the hell of it. He went for 6 rushes for 80 yards against the first string defense. So I said fuck it I will start him in the regular season. Oh my lord is he a fucking beast. His skills are 81 speed, 99 Trucking, 93 Stiff Arm, 90 Carrying. This dude just keeps pushing throughout tacklers for yards. In he first official game he ran for 24 carries, 133 yards and 2 TD's.

Sucks there is no transaction log in CCM. I noticed that the Saints traded Pierre Thomas to the Bucs and the 49ers traded Delanie Walker to the Giants, but, I have no idea what the compensation was.

Other thing I sort of noticed. One year I didn't franchise tag a player. Went through Free Agency and all that then found that the player I wanted dropped was tagged and I was stuck with him for another season. It was odd.

I've had a ton of freeze ups. Once during the draft, once during free agency and other times throughout the season. I'm almost thinking its my old ass xbox but I don't have this problem with any other games.
Anyone else have this problem besides me and Leaf? I thought I had a bad disc the first time, returned the game, got a new one and within 10 minutes of playing CCM it froze again. My friend just told me the other day that it's happening to him too. It makes the game unplayable.

I'm on the PS3 and have played a shit load of Madden games thus far. Completed a season with my buddy, went through the entire off-season with no problems whatsoever. So I can say I haven't had any freezing issues, at all actually.

I had a freeze last night at the end of preseason when I went to adjust my depth chart.. Wiped out the previous year's SB (which I won) and the entire offseason and subsequent preseason.

                  Not cool.

Sad to say, but my beast RB is out for season after putting up 364 yards and 4 TD's in 3 games. He was running his heart out in the 4th quarter when he was gang raped by 4 big black dudes and came out from the pile with a Torn MCL. You will be missed. <3

I myself just had the game freeze-up on me when I went to college scouting. First time it has happened to me, but, it is discouraging. Now each time I go into scout I'll be worrying about a freeze. I just skipped it for week 1 and went into my team's practice for week 2.

I also made a trade with the Chiefs. Being that Marcus Spear is on IR and I have a roster spot open, I decided to check to see what was available in FA and on the market. Didn't like much of what was in FA, but, I did see the Chiefs had DE Ropati Pitoitua available. Looked at the pertinent numbers you would normally have an interest in for a 3-4 DE (STR, PRC, TAK, AWR) and they were all decent to good. I offered the Chiefs a 5th round pick in 2014 and they accepted. Ropati will join a rotation on the left side with Kenyon Coleman and Tyrone Crawford. All three will get playing time as I manually sub in and out throughout the game from the play-call menu depending on the DnD and what I think the CPU will call in general. Crawford is the most talented of the bunch, but, his low ratings in AWR and PRC keep me from getting him on the field more. Ropati will be ideal in short DnD situations and Coleman is the starter who can do a bit of everything.

I have quite a bit of depth at the end position now which really just gives me more flexibility to focus on other areas of concern in the off-season. I know a lot of people are complaining about the functionality of CCM and justifiably so. However, if they can fix some of the freezing issues, this mode is like crack! I love that I can manually progress my guys and dictate what they improve on and actually have that make a difference. I can take a guy like Ropati Pitoitua and actually turn him into a pure run-stopper if I want and use him in situational DnD packages. Guys like Tyrone Crawford can get some PT and I can still upgrade them in other areas. It is really fun. Plus, I can build a team my way!

I was messing around with the strategy section and the "schemes" tab which allows you to select what type of player you are looking for at each position and I loved the ratings spikes, and hits, guys would take as I made changes. For example, I have my DT position set to "prototype" and Jay Ratliff is a 93 OVR. If I switch it to "Nose Tackle" focusing more on STR and TAK ratings, he drops to an 80 OVR. I have my WR1 and WR2 set to "speed" and Miles Austing and Dez Bryant come out to a 85 and 83 respectively. I switched it to "possession" and "red-zone threat" and they both went to 86, but, the rest of the WR core sank like a stone, so I moved it back to speed so that my other WRs wouldn't take such a big hit in OVR and in the XP they gain from playing out of their scheme.

BTW, I use a trade value chart when trading picks for players. Nothing too in depth or fancy, but, it gives me a guide when making offers:

                      99-95: 1st round pick
                      94-90: 2nd round pick
                      89-85: 3rd round pick
                      84-80: 4th round pick
                      79-75: 5th round pick
                      74-70: 6th round pick
                      69-00: 7th round pick

The OVR rating is based on the players OVR in YOUR SCHEME not their OVR w/their current team. For example, I looked at Ron Brace as a potential addition to my DT spot before deciding to grab an end. With the Pats he was a 75 OVR, when adding him to the trade list I saw that he was a 65 OVR with me. I still liked some of his numbers for a backup DT, but, I felt I should add a DE instead of a DT.

I pretty much get the freezes routinely and they happen just out of the blue. I save a lot now so I can cover my ass.

I have a really old xbox though and am leaning towards that. Its one of the white ones that came with a 20GB hard drive. I got it 3 or 4 years ago now after having my first one get a red ring of death.

Started a trial CC, before the updated roster comes out Friday. I took control of Texan's Case Keenum but plan on making my own guy later. The first 5 weeks of the regular season, I bought individual attributes upgrade...ie. Med & Deep Passes. I'm saving my XP now till I get 50K to buy the upgrade that makes your player "learn" faster. Haven't had a problem with freezing (yet).

Won my game yesterday against the Seahawks 36-6. I was shocked at the overall performance of my team as well. After not throwing any INTs against the Giants, I threw three against the 'Hawks (all my fault though - not going to be like the OS bitches who claim the game cheated and caused the INT...in fact, as soon as I threw all three passes I knew it was a bad idea). However, my defense also had three INTs against Tavaris Jackson (shocker I know). Brandon Carr had a pick-six that was really impressive. Mike Jenkins had the other two picks, but, they were not as impressive as he was sitting in zone and Jackson threw into double-coverage. Carr was one-on-one man coverage.

Most impressive was my defense as a whole. Against New York I let up 370+ yards of total offense. Against Seattle: 81 yards. Most people complain that they are #1 in run defense and #32 in pass defense. I shut them down on all fronts this game. Recorded 6 sacks, 3 INTs and multiple passes defensed. I have Tampa and Chicago up next before a BYE week and then a game against the Ravens. Obviously if performances, by my defense, like my last game continue I will have to make some adjustments. Overall, I am really having a blast with this game and the new CCM mode. Yeah, it needs some work, but it still has quite a bit of replay value IMVHO.

Finally, I got my first contract extension request. It was from Mike Jenkins. Being that he is a fellow Bull/USF alum - I have a soft place in my heart for him, but, he wants quite a bit of money ($4+ million USD per) for 4+ years. I want to be 3-deep at the CB position, but, I don't know that I want to pay him that much, to be a nickel-corner. Plus, his man coverage rating is a little low for my liking. I don't think I will be able to keep him on the roster...even as a sentimental roster spot lol.
