[PS3] PSN to Undergo Maintenance on Sept. 10th

Sony has revealed that the PlayStation Network is due to go down for maintenance for a 14 hour period on Monday, September 10th. The maintenance period spans from 8am PT to 10pm PT (or 11am ET to 1am ET on the 11th).

The post notes that “If you’ve signed onto PSN over the past few days, you’ll still be able to play online and access apps during this period, but you may receive a maintenance notification when attempting to access the PlayStation Store, PlayStation Home, and Account Management as these services will be unavailable.” As such, “Be sure to sign in now if you wish to access the Network during this maintenance window.”

This maintenance warning was posted on the North American PlayStation Forums, so it’s unclear if it will affect other territories. However, PlayStation Network outages and maintenance periods typically do affect all territories.
Nothing new, but here's a heads-up to get online on PSN real quick so you aren't in the cold.

      Too many.

It only effects those who aren't shut-ins or physically attached to online play and/or PSN Home though.

Can't be more than 4 or 5 times a year.

It seems like at least once a month, which is weird considering that their back end infrastructire is supposed to be much better than Xbox Live. According to the Giant Bomb guys, that's the reaon Free to Play and MMOs are possible on PSN but not Xbox.

How can you be "on vacation" if you're unemployed?

If they all last for 10 hours (giving a little bit of a break over the 14 reported in the OP) then you are paying $1 per hour for XBL to always be up

In any case, I would be pretty pissed about it going down if I played PS3 exclusively. There is no reason for it to go down like that. I hope Sony has a better system in place by the time their next console is released.

Online gameplay is usually still functioning during these downtimes, and that's all I really care about. Not to mention that I don't think anyone should be very upset about them doing regular maintenance on their systems that manage personal information after the fiasco last year.

                        Nah.

I'm online all the time, even if it's just to watch Crackle movies because I'm cheap.
